Another fine meal. Excellent chips, salsas and sopapitos whetted our appetite for the Mole verde enchiladas and grilled pulpo entrees. Food was delicious and service great.

El Agave never fails. It is my “go-to” spot when I blow into town. Gerardo & the entire staff are true professionals. Even the hostess (he name escapes me sorry)is a sweetheart & even remembered me from my last visit. As for recommendations: everything! Even if you're stuffed afterwards order the churros & a Carajillo. You will not be sorry.

What a hidden gem in Old Town San Diego! The setup is awesome and the history of tequila is well represented in the establishment the bottles tell such amazing stories. The Staff is amazing and on point and very knowledgeable about all El Agave things. My party loved it! The food is amazing I had chips salsa ‘fire' I had the prime rib tacos “fire fire fire” I had the catch if the day tacos “fire fire fire and I had the shrimp tacos ‘Fire Fire Fire' for desert I had the cheese cake it was good and crust less, the churro desert was ‘fire x2'. Overall great spot very enjoyable and awesome food and service by far a place to keep on my dine list top 5!

From the moment we walked in the door and greeted by Gerardo, I was impressed. From the beautifully displayed Tequila/Mezcals I knew we were in for a real treat. We enjoyed a flight of Mezcal and two amazing Margaritas. Chips and salsa and food was delicious, We look forward to our next visit with friends and family.

This place is legit! At first I was skeptical because it's on the edge of old town, but the food here blew away the other places in old town I've been to. Authentic dishes! Mole was amazing! The tequila menu is top notch. Will go back for sure.

Lovely wait staff. Got the pork mole trio. Portion was small and there was quite a bit of fat, which was off putting. The room is cool, with all of the tequila bottles. We also had sea bass. It was good but overly salty. My $16 Margarita was fair. I expected better . Overall, we were underwhelmed and unlikely to return.

The food was outstanding. We started with the 3 ceviche appetizer and while all 3 of the options were tasty the white fish in green sauce was amazing. For our mains we had the carnitas tacos and arroz al a tumbada. The carnitas were super tender and flavorful. The tumbada was spicy, full of seafood and delicious. The waitstaff was attentive and did an excellent job.

Food was excellent and so far was the best meal we had in San Diego. Service was great and if we had this restaurant near our home we would be there on a regular basis.

Our waiter was excellent, cocktails great. Food was very tasty, I just thought the mole may have been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. Kinda had that look. And also it's very sweet. Overall food was tasty. I'll be back.

The food was fantastic, but what really stood out was the service. All the servers were incredibly attentive and kind. At one point, I was alone on the outside part of the restaurant, and the server had me move to the bar so I'd be a bit less lonely. Everyone here was absolutely wonderful (and the food and drinks were great)—I will be sure to come back the next time I'm in San Diego!

Mole poblano had a mix of sweet and spicy flavor to it and the chicken was juicy! Chips and salsa served with a side of beans as well. Although busy, server was able to accommodate us as best as possible. Don't forget the churros and ice cream!!!!!
