They locked the toilets to customers, really shocking.
Angie! the Manager! such a sweetheart! takes good care of me whenever I go in
Extremely rude Asian lady with glasses working the front counter. Brushed me off and had a rude condescending and annoying tone and I will not be returning to this Starbucks. (I am Asian and think she was discriminating against me)
Happy, friendly people. Quick service. Close to the beach.
Lovely service and great drinks. No seats here, great for takeaway.

BOICOT STARBUCKS
What Has Starbucks Become After COVID?
Starbucks used to be a place where you could not only grab your favorite coffee but also enjoy basic amenities like restrooms, tables, and chairs. Recently, I visited the La Jolla Starbucks—a location in one of San Diego's most upscale neighborhoods—only to find that they have closed the restrooms to customers. There’s now a cone and strap blocking access, and employees simply tell you there is no restroom for customers anymore. This is in a place where a 20oz coffee, largely made up of whipped cream and milk froth, costs over $6.
It’s not just the restroom issue. Many Starbucks locations around San Diego County have removed tables and chairs entirely. This used to be a place where you could sit, relax, work, or catch up with friends. Now, it feels like they're pushing people to grab their overpriced coffee and leave.
As a frequent customer, I used to buy coffee or food, sometimes just because I planned to use the restroom or sit for a bit. Now, if there’s no restroom, or nowhere to sit, I simply take my business elsewhere. And I’m not alone. Many customers must feel the same frustration. Despite reducing services, Starbucks continues to hike up prices. Instead of adjusting to reflect the lower level of service, they’re taking more from us and giving less.
It’s time to ask ourselves why we tolerate this. Why not walk a few more steps to the next coffee shop? Better yet, why not support small, local businesses that still offer basic services and value their customers? Starbucks will offer a range of excuses for these changes—whether it's related to COVID, safety, or efficiency—but don’t be fooled. It’s about money. Whether it’s a new CEO or the same old leadership, they’ve found ways to save on electricity, cleaning, restroom supplies, and maintenance, all while increasing profits at our expense.
What Starbucks is taking away isn’t just about restrooms and seating. It’s about removing spaces where people can gather, study, chat, and connect. As more businesses adopt this model, we lose important opportunities to be part of our community. It may seem small—one coffee shop here, one closed restroom there—but these changes are eroding the sense of connection that businesses like Starbucks used to foster.
COVID caused enough damage. Don’t let businesses continue to strip away what we had, using the pandemic as an excuse. We deserve more than overpriced coffee and fewer services. Let’s not allow them to redefine the customer experience in ways that benefit them at our expense.

The drinks are good, like Starbucks. The staff are also friendly and nice. Please note that there are no seats, only standing tables against the wall.
