I’m from Seattle, have been a barista myself and this is my “neighborhood” Starbucks. This is the worst one I’ve been to, the service is always so rude, you have to ask for the bare minimum and there’s an amount of attitude from each worker that spills out in ways that make the other customers talk amongst themselves bc it’s so poor - on multiple occasions.

Sunny corner patio. Ok banana bread. The cappuccino was an overcooked bucket of milk. I guess I should just get the house drip coffee next time. I shouldn’t need to tell a barista how to make a cappuccino.

Very friendly staff. However, the drinks are over sugared and way overpriced. Not really worth it

The remodel was a conversion from a reasonable community cafe to an utterly forgettable "airport starbucks," with so little room that people inside waiting have to awkardly shuffle around. The outdoors seating is OK, but has inadequate sun shading, so most of the day there's a fight to avoid sun glare. And there's no trash/recycling outside so you have to fight your way back in to throw anything away.I was a captive customer being walking distance from my house, but will likely - sigh- start driving into Normal Heights for good sit-down coffee.

Agree with the other reviews about the remodel. It went from a neighborhood cafe to an "airport Starbucks" with zero memorable ambiance. And even the little room inside is awkwardly arranged so it's everyone has to reshuffle everytime someone comes in. There is seating outdoors, but very little sun shade, so you're always struggling to avoid sun glare. Also there is no trash/recycling outdoors, so you have to fight your way back inside to throw anything away.

Used to be our favorite spot. Now with the new design, it feels uninviting

All indoor seating removed, what was once a wonderful neighborhood meeting place is now sterile and uninviting, why did they do this?

This place is full of flies. I had 3 drown themselves in my brand new Frappuccino. Flies all over the baked goods. I went in twice. 2 workers and one customers and was completely ignored and not acknowledged by either worker. Going to contact HQ to complain I'm so annoyed. Don't waste your money at this fly infested Starbucks with rude workers.

Corporate coffee house. Cold stale remodel has done away with all seating. You are NOT welcome.

It's a pretty rude gesture for Starbucks to remodel their store and take out all the indoor seating. Way to be a good neighbor Starbucks. They should have a sign that says "take your coffee and go." I wish Starbucks would leave Kensington so a local coffee shop could move in. There are so many great local coffee shops and roasters in San Diego that pay attention to making great coffee and customers would also be supporting local business. Maybe someday.

Bring back the old layout! This locations has the absolute best staff EVER, and the old design had a neighborhood vibe: people would hang out, meet up, work or study all day. Now, it’s basically a cold coffee counter with no indoor seating. Clinical and uninviting. While the new patio is lovely, I’ll be skipping this location in favor of a drive thru and find somewhere else to study.

This WAS a neighborhood gathering spot and a nice place to escape the office or the heat to work remotely for a bit. It is now a 'get your coffee and get out' spot with NO indoor seating. The patio outside feels strange because of the shaded ceiling. Kind of a cooped up feeling. After growing up in the neighborhood for the past 50 years, sad to see this no longer be a welcoming place to spend time with others, to read, or get a little work done. The employee I spoke to said everyone hates it, but the staff like it because more storage space in the back for stuff. Sitting on their patio writing this and it's HOT outside. Corporate greed BLOWS. Feels like a middle-finger to the neighborhood.

This Starbucks has gone the way of many others: Get your drink and get out! They don't seem to realize that such an establishment is for the coffee house experience and not just for the coffee. The recent remodeling seems to benefit the employees more than the customer. Very bad business model!

Well they finally remodeled this Starbucks. It always needed it. Unfortunately it's just a place to order now. No tables or chairs inside. First Starucks I have seen like this. There is tables outside like there always was, but that's not going to work when it's really warm or cold.Awful. Lowering my score to 1 star.
