I have been a fan of sushi deli since the 90's when it was downtown. Its always been a little bit unclean, used, run down, but it was worth it for the price and quality of the food. Coming in and out of SD over the years,I've looked forward to lunch at Sushi Deli. Today however, it was a gross experience. Upon parking and walking towards the restaurant, there were many homeless sleeping or freaking out on the street, there was a huge pile of poop, probably human, smeared accross the sidewalk next to the restaurant. I know this isn't the management's fault, but it's disgusting. I quickly sat down, to a sticky table, rice from previous guests child on chair and floor. I ordered the bento lunch special and got Luke warm miso soup,with soggy tempura batter. The bento was thrown together and sloppy, there were 4 tiny Cal rolls and about 4 thin slices of chicken which wasn't broiled at all, just a sad bento box. The server was lovely, but my expectations and experience went to a 2 out of 5. I still have a yucky aftertaste in my mouth and memories of an unclean environment. Sorry.

Came here on a Friday night and we were able to get seated right away. They had a new Soju Slush drink which was very tasty and got a couple orders of different types of sushi. The atmosphere is pretty good, but a little basic but good for a simple date night.

Walked in as service was just beginning. They were already on point. I asked about a picture that someone had posted, and the waitress, Victoria, knew exactly which roll it was. It was the Ship Wreck Roll that was off menu. Victoria also recommended the Triple Threat Roll. By all means, I would take Victoria's advice on any sushi roll, as it was awesome, tasty, and filling. Sushi Deli is definitely a go-to spot of any sushi afficionado and would recommend this location. Ask for Victoria's recommendations!! Thanks guys!
This is most definitely my favorite sushi spot! They offer a variety of delicious rolls at reasonable prices. The rolls are consistently fresh, and the service is prompt. It’s worth noting that they tend to get busy on Fridays and Saturdays, so you should expect a bit of a wait, but once seated, the service is efficient and friendly. Some of my favorite rolls include; Tourmaline, Snapping Salmon, Mango Punch, and Crunchy. I highly recommend trying this place; you won’t regret it. I'm feeling hungry just writing this review, so now you know where I’ll be at this Friday!
