From the moment you walk into this ramen spot, you know you’re in for something special. The warm, comforting aroma of simmering broth greets you before you even sit down, and the energy inside strikes that perfect balance between cozy and lively.

I ordered the spicy pork ramen, and it was perfection. The broth was rich, creamy, and layered with flavor — clearly simmered for hours — yet not overly heavy. The noodles were springy and cooked just right, soaking up the broth without losing their bite. The chashu pork practically melted in my mouth, and every topping — from the marinated egg to the crisp green onions — was perfectly balanced.

Service was fast and genuinely friendly, and it’s clear the staff take pride in what they serve. Even the small touches stood out: chilled water refilled without asking, spotless tables, and a playlist that made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

If you’re a ramen fan (or even if you’ve never had it before), this place sets the standard. Every bowl feels like it was made with care, and you’ll leave already planning your next visit.

I’ve always enjoyed coming here, and the food and service in the past have been excellent. But today was shocking and upsetting. The person behind the counter (not our server) was flat out rude, slamming things around (including my to go cup), and even throwing my bill at the table. It felt aggressive and completely unprofessional. No customer should be treated this way. If she can’t treat people with basic respect, she has no business dealing with customers. I left feeling disrespected and upset, which is the opposite of every other visit I’ve had here.

I hate writing a negative review to a place that was rated my #1 favorite for years. But I traveled for the last two years and I was so excited to come back and come here yet I was greatly disappointed. I’m writing this to the owners so they save their well-respected restaurant before the staff ruin it. My ramen was stale, the tofu was very clearly old and there wasn’t any veggies. I actually got sick from it. While I was there, there were multiple people sending their food back and had complaints. I spoke to friends in the neighborhood about my experience and they all said the place has really gone down hill. PLEASE SAVE YOUR ESTABLISHMENT! It has always been the best but if you currently have staff not giving the place the effort and respect it deserves it won’t continue on.

I was in San Diego for the weekend so decided to have ramen. This place had good reviews. Waited upto 15- 20 mins. Good ambience, had to explain the serve was lil unforgetful or maybe new had to repeat 3 times our order since it was customize. It took a while for hot soku to arrive at the table.
Food was really good the only thing I felt was the quantity of broth could’ve been more.

Overall it was nice.

Wonderful experience at Tajima! I got the tonkotsu ramen and my friend got the Tajima white ramen. Both had good flavor. The tonkotsu only came with one piece of pork belly, for the price you’d expect more. The service was quick and the staff were attentive.

The atmosphere was great. It feels cozy and nice. The food was ok, it does the job filling you up. My son agreed with me that something was missing, I don’t know what, perhaps “Love”. Overall Experience was good. Our waiter was a little forgetful, we had to ask him twice for chopstick helpers for my young son. We were not offered refill on water.

Everything tasted excellent! It is good to value quality over quantity, but don't use it as an excuse to short on portions.

High quality ramen and great selection of types to choose from.

Ordered take away with two beers. Both came in plastic bottles and in the same bag with hot soups.

I called and they refunded the beers. However they didn’t say the beers wouldn’t come in the original glass bottles and they didn’t think cold beer should be put in a different bag as a hot soup.

The portion of soup in each order is way smaller than the portion you would normally get dining in.

My coworkers and I weren’t baffled on the costumer service we had . Two appetizers came after the ramen . My coworker ramen was cold(room temp) and waiter stated they were unable to remake or reheat when the other ramens were steaming . And it wasn’t even that busy today to be overwhelmed and unapologetic

Ive had ramen from Tajima about a dozen times since they opened. I would say they have the 5th-6th best ramen in San Diego. It’s not mind blowing but decent if you can’t get to the other good spots. Atmosphere is great with moody lighting, tables, and counters. Service can be hit or miss.
