Hadn't been to one of these in years but was craving a salad while traveling and this looked like it had the best options. I got the seasonal salmon salad and it was BOMB. A little pricey at $17+ but worth it. This had lettuce, pickled veg, avocado, a tangy dressing, and a decent amount of fish.

This place is so hit n miss. The Point Loma location blows this one out of the water. I go to TG A LOT. This location is absolutely the worst one and it seems as if the staff doesn’t care and doesn’t pay much attention to detail. I ordered a Pozole SOUP. I received pozole pudding. There is as absolutely no broth in it. I asked for my steak to be grilled medium, because this location tends to have their steak very rare as you can see in the picture. Even my chicken was undercooked and I got an upset stomach because of it. I’ve emailed Tender Greens about this location before, but I guess not much has changed here. Quality control is horrendous.

We were staying at a downtown hotel and needed dinner after most restaurants downtown had closed. The menu at Tender Greens looked promising and the reviews were good, so we walked over. We ordered three meals and every one of them was AWFUL. We finished them only because we had paid quite a bit for them and needed dinner! The fried chicken sandwiches were dry and the bun that would have been good was over toasted and hard. The roasted potatoes were soggy and the mashed potatoes needed seasoning. My daughter got the kids grilled cheese and it was overcooked and blackened on the edges to the point of being really chewy and basically inedible, even to me. Most kids don’t like burnt grilled cheese and it was a kids menu item. The flavor would have been delicious if it wasn’t burnt. She couldn’t even finish it. Even for a cheap meal, the quality was bad. But this meal was not inexpensive and the quality was inexcusable for the price! The only positive from our visit was the bathrooms were clean. This will be my first and last visit to Tender Greens.

They have wonderful selection and a clearly great olive oil cake for low calorie consumption dessert that is delicious, moist and flavorful. Their steak is lean and sliced to perfection and I love their baby greens with tasty vinegrette dressing and super fluffy mashed potatoes too. My favorite inexpensive food in downtown!
