Centennial Burger & garlic fries were terrific, the only issue is at first they got my burger completely wrong but they fixed it right away and gave me a beer on the house. Excellent customer service from the bartender. Also the burgers are big juicy 1/3lb pattys which I like better than smash burgers

Wow!! We had heard about this place with regard to the garlic fries. However, the burger was so good! The drinks are very reasonable. The atmosphere is perfect. CJ is really friendly and makes fabulous drinks!!

The burgers here are perfect. They are what you want a burger to be when you think of having a cheeseburger. And at happy hour (4-6) they are only $8. For a 1/3 lb. single cheeseburger. That is by far the best deal in San Diego.

Listen, I work in Downtown San Diego and it doesnt fail that almost every Friday at least one of my co-workers suggest getting lunch here. Everytime it is, WE GO! The burgers are too good and the staff is always soo friendly. Just a heads up though, The Chula Vista location doesnt hit the same. The burger has the same taste but something about it doesnt taste the same (confusing I know) So if youre doing The Balboa, make sure its this location! Love this place and hope it starts opening earlier on weekdays!

I went on a Monday which is all day Happy Hour. Did I drive 30 miles in rush hour traffic to get a burger? Sure did. Can't beat a tasty $8.00 Balboa Burger. I got two. Perfectly cooked patties, buns are top notch. Fries are fresh and crispy, served piping hot. Bartenders there are super cool, just place your order with them at the designated area at the bar. They are quite busy on a Monday so expect to wait about 10-15 min for your food.
I must say that at first it looked like it was closed. Dingy and dark, but we found to door and went on in. Not a fan of the music being played, and for sure more of a “Dive Bar” atmosphere. They even got our order wrong, and here is where they earned a 5 STAR from me. Alex the bartender and the cook flooded our table to apologize for the confusion and went over the top to correct their honest mistake. Don’t judge this book by its cover, and maybe the music might not be your taste, or the atmosphere, but you’ll love the burger, and get 5 Star Service?

Recently visited this spot to see what all the hype was about. Ordered the original balboa. It was ok. The aioli sauce was really good. The burger was decent. Fries were eh. Don’t think I’ll be going back, Rocky’s hands down the best in town.
