Each year just before Valentines Day is my birthday, so I make it into The Elegant Truffle for a few of my favorites; "The Evil One" luscious coconut cake with whipped cream and a few elegant truffles. This year, I did just that a few days ago. I walked in early on a Saturday and honestly the crew looked as though they had pitched a chocolate tent in the back as they were definitely working over-time to serve and deliver amazing chocolates for the upcoming holiday. This review is years late, as I have enjoyed this unique chocolatier haven for years ever since cruising around this most adorable Loma Portal many moons ago and was blown away. The first thing I ever had was the "Oh My God" cake and it was crazy good, still is. As I write this I am enjoying one of their cognac truffles and it is outstanding!! I thought to myself, I'll eat one half and the other half later....not happening! It will be devoured completely. Hands down the best dessert chocolate destination in California and maybe the entire USA!! Thank you to Francine and her dedicated crew I am truly a de-vote-T! Thank you for all the YUMS!!!

We were looking for a dessert place that wasn't ice cream. We found The Elegant Truffle on Yelp and they were closing in 20 minutes. It was a short walk. Their desserts looked wonderful. I got a piece of The Evil One, which is basically a coconut cream cake. It was incredible. My wife got a piece of carrot cake that is made with pineapple instead of raisins. She enjoyed it over two days.In the short time we were there, this seems like a take it to go place as we saw no seating, which was not a problem. They boxed up each dessert, provided us with forks, and a carry out bag. They have lots of chocolate based desserts as well, both cakes and truffles.

This shop is DREAMY!!! I love it!!! But, every item contains DAIRY...there may be one "non-diary bar" but it's not consistency available. This shop produces beautiful work and people are eating it...without realizing they are eating animal cruelty while clogging their arteries and contributing to climate change. Non-dairy chocolates that taste like dairy-based chocolates are very possible today...it would be so nice!!! What a great business opportunity it would be!!
After 13 years in San Diego came across this gem and the chocolate, coconut, and carrot cakes were the bomb! The carrot cake is the best I've had anywhere (in the country)!!! Highly recommend.

We are locals who decided to revisit The Elegant Truffle on our recent bakery discoveries. It had been too long. btw, almost 8 years ago my daughter requested a white chocolate cheesecake for a major birthday of mine. Decadent! it also froze well, as it was an entire large cake, not a slice. This time, my daughter bought a slice each of The Evil One and the OMG cheesecakes. i selected one of the fruity scones, the double chocolate biscotti, brownies for us and 2 neighbors and a caramel bar. Nothing remains, other than a bar of some type. If I lived walking distance, instead of a 15 to 20 minute drive, I would be in major trouble. Jennifer's truffles are also superb. I must return before the holidays. The Elegant Truffle has maintained its high standards and quality over the years and not suffered the aftermath of the COVID crisis. Kudos! A visit there is worth the drive down Pt Loma and parking is available in front as well as street parking.

Love this place every time I go and I always try to bring my friends here who haven't been before. No one is sorry they've come haha! Yummy chocolate truffles and cakes, as well as assorted scones and cookies. All made fresh on the premises by the owner.

Jennifer and her team are wonderful. My girlfriend and I stopped by a couple months ago when we were in the area since you never seen any local chocolatiers anymore. I am dairy free which limits me almost everywhere but Jennifer was so kind and offered me a beautiful blueberry lemon angel food cake and some Belgian dark chocolate. Both were very delicious. My girlfriend really enjoyed the chocolates she got and said the brownie was to die for. Highly recommend stopping in to talk with Jennifer. She is very passionate about providing the highest quality desserts and coffee drinks.
