The Pizza Standard

Outrageously good pizza from a hole in the wall business. Perfect crust IMHO, thin and crisp in the middle, pillowy and crusty on the outer rim. I've only had the Truffle pizza and it was to die for. I can't decide if I should get that again or try something new on my next visit. Maybe I'll go half-and-half. It's hard to wait until 4 PM when they open!

I see price ratings of $20-30 but those ratings should be per person. Whole 18" pizzas are $25-$28. We had two big slices left after feeding three people so I'm going with $1-10/person.

Vegetarian options: Our veggie friend LOVED the Truffle pizza.

Parking: Strip mall location, there was unlimited parking very close to the front door.

This place is top notch! I’m originally from NY so I’d know! There is not a time that I bring up Pizza Standard as a meal suggestion that my 17 year old son isn’t super excited! The owner had such a good business plan with this place and I know he must personally hire everyone who works there. They’re all warm and friendly, highly competent, and the quality of their product is 100%. You can go get a warm pizza to bring home - with the absolute best pepperoni. I’m 95% vegan and I am all over their pepperoni lol. Or you can dine in. They have a great selection of drinks and appetizers! Oh don’t forget to take a look at my Tupac drawing on their wall.

Was down in SD for a business trip and I have to say this place beats anything we can get in Los Angeles. It's an amazing NY slice. The Marg and the Mushroom are both solid. They were out of the Chicken Parm and White slices which only means we'll have to order an entire pie next time! Delicious!

Some of the best dough in the pizza game comes from the pizza standard. They do a great job with a no frills store front that focuses on what’s important; the pizza. Bonus for the hand drawn plates from customers on the walls. And I do love their random little handwashing station, lol.

Their truffle pizza is a unique and very flavorful pizza that is worth trying. Not sure what sauce they or if it’s handmade but it’s rich. The ranch is made in house and it slaps. There isn’t much else to say, come see for yourself!

Easily the best pizza I've had not just in San Diego but West Coast. Have had it many times now and it's not only great but consistently so. Love all the varieties (hard to pick but Testarossa and chicken parm are standouts ) and the cheese / margarita scratch the pizza itch better than anything. On top of it all, super friendly service and a customer-first attitude. Love this place!!

I'm glad I don't have to drive to downtown anymore. I like how they make there dough..very crispy and airy..And they weigh there stuff,which shows they care about there product and result. Very chef like and I appreciate.

The weekday hours are kinda weird but this place serves a superb NY style pie. Amazing sauce, flopless thin crust, and golden molten cheese. Definitely a must visit if you're an east coast pizza connoisseur. It's actually very hard to find this style done right on the west coast.

By far the best pizza spot in San Diego! From the great sauce to the thin crust, it hits the spot every time. They also have reasonable prices and offer a variety of single slices which is really convenient! 10/10 would recommend

Hands down, the best NY style pizza in San Diego. I'd almost say the best pizza overall in San Diego. Dough has a great crisp on the outside, with an equally great chew on the inside, and the sauce is fantastic. Thankfully I don't live close to them because I would be there all the time for a slice or two. Highly recommend.

Best pizza I've ever had. From the aged dough to the flavorful sauce, you can tell these guys use quality ingredients to make a superior product.

I've been enough times now that I've tried pretty much everything. My fav pizza is the Margarita, the Truffle is a close second, but all the specialties are pretty delicious. The crust is the tastiest thing and I'm usually throwing mine away, but not here!

Tiramisu is homemade and doesn't disappoint. I've also tried some delicious Italian sodas that I've never seen elsewhere. Salads are basic but they make the dressings and they're both delicious.

The guys who work there are really nice. You can tell they care about the product and their customers.

Overall huge addition to the neighborhood.
