My boyfriend and I visited The Poke Co. this evening on Valentine’s Day, expecting a relaxed and enjoyable experience while we were out shopping in the area. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple and pleasant visit was completely overshadowed by an extremely uncomfortable and disrespectful interaction involving one of your employees, Caitlin (I may not have the exact spelling correct).

As we moved through the line building our poke bowls and selecting our ingredients, my boyfriend made a specific request regarding how he wanted his bowl prepared nothing unreasonable, simply a personal preference. Instead of responding professionally, Caitlin made negative and inappropriate comments about him to a co-worker. Although she may have believed she was speaking privately, she did so within clear hearing distance, and my boyfriend heard exactly what was said. It was incredibly disrespectful and honestly shocking to witness an employee speak about a customer in that way.

We continued through the line and completed our order, but the experience had already shifted. After paying, we decided to stay and eat there instead of leaving right away, and that’s when my boyfriend told me what had happened. I brought it to Ashley’s attention immediately, and she handled the situation with professionalism and respect stepping in immediately and pulling Caitlin aside to address it. We truly appreciated Ashley’s kindness, composure, and the way she treated us throughout the interaction.

That said, the damage had already been done. Valentine’s Day is meant to be an enjoyable and memorable experience, and instead we left feeling uncomfortable and offended. No customer should feel talked about or judged behind their back simply for having a personal preference with their food.

Because of this experience, we will not be returning to this establishment. Customer service and basic respect matter just as much as the food itself, and unfortunately this interaction fell far below an acceptable standard.

Again, the only positive part of our visit was Ashley, whose professionalism and kindness did not go unnoticed. She represents the level of service customers should expect.

I like their food. But Ive been there a few times and was told i would get $5 off after my 3rd visit. Which is why they ask if i have a phone number. But ive never been offered the discount. So i wonder why do they ask for our number?

Multiple times I’ve come to this place and it’s been listed as open when everything was shut down and the doors were locked. When I have managed to get in, the staff is really rude and the food tastes like it’s been left out for hours.
It’s irritating because this is one of the only places close to my job, it’s wasted time and a wasted break. DO NOT come here, the other location is so much better.

I've been to this location and ordered online a few times. It's always been friendly, fast and fresh. I'm surprised at the bad reviews, but maybe I've just been lucky. I find The Poke Co. is one of the better, more solid options that doesn't try to nickel and dime you for ingredients and gives good portions.

I don’t even know where to start. Walking into Poke Co in Mission Valley felt like walking into a dumpster behind a fish market on a hot day. The air smelled like spoiled seafood and dirty mop water. It was so bad I literally had to cover my nose while ordering.

The staff? Miserable. Zero professionalism, zero friendliness. One of them looked like they just rolled out of bed and couldn’t be bothered to say a single word. Just pointed and stared like I was interrupting their break.

I made the mistake of ordering anyway. The fish looked slimy, the toppings were warm, and the whole bowl tasted off. Less than 4 hours later, I was curled up in pain with the worst stomach cramps and nausea I’ve ever experienced. I missed work the next day and had to live off Pedialyte and saltines for 48 hours.

This place is a biohazard. I wouldn’t let my dog eat here. Save yourself the trauma and avoid it at all costs.

First time here and big poke fan. Service was good. Prices were fair but when I walked in, the establishment didn’t seem up to par and made me question the integrity of the food, especially considering its raw fish. Front door was open, little dirty inside. Sure enough after consuming, having some of the side effects one would expect….

Not sure how busy this place is, but I'm surprised they weren't busier. After a good workout, completed my day. Almost a hole in the wall, in a big shopping center. I wish them the very best. And hopefully more tables. To enjoy the meal! Great portions!!!! Num num num num!
