Exceptionally friendly staff. Very chill ambience. Outstanding food. Can’t recommend The Trails Eatery highly enough. Perfect place to refuel after Cowels Mountain. Shoot, even without the hike it’s still an ideal place to go for breakfast!

First time here I'd love to come back here and try more exciting things on the menu like the pancakes and Benedict's. I had a BLT with a side salad. But the lemon tumeric vinaigrette for my side salad was absolutely devine! The owner(I'm assuming) was so welcoming and amazing! The atmosphere and hospitality alone will have me coming back but can't wait to come back and try other delicious items on the menu!

Nice breakfast and lunch place, near Cowles Mtn. Both meat eaters and vegetarian meals. Order at counter, then pick table. Quick service, and great food. Service, such as refills , can be spotty. We had outstanding service last time, but time before we had to walk back and ask for coffee refills for all 4 people, at different times.

This place was surprisingly good! We didn’t know what to expect based on the menu, but it looked like a lot of options clearly labeled, so we wanted to give it a shot. The place was pippin’ line out the door- but it moved quickly, you order and then sit down and your food is brought to you. they have the best greeter and he explained the menu icons and all that for us and was so sweet! We got the veggie omelette veganized and I added avocado, my bf got the hash thing with sweet potato and soyrizo. The person taking our order clarified to omit one of the sauces on his order because it had dairy in it. Everything was great and we definitely want to go back!

Great brunch spot. Great selection especially if you are gluten free. If you arrive before 10am. There's no line.

Seriously, I'm almost reluctant to write this review because The Trail Eatery in La Mesa is, hands down, one of the absolute best spots in the area – especially for breakfast! It's already a very popular, bustling place, and honestly, I dread more people discovering this culinary gem, but they truly deserve all the praise.
What makes it so special? Let's talk about the staff. They are simply wonderful.

Dylan, who's been at the front for years, is a familiar face that always makes you feel like family. That's the vibe here, you know? It's one of those rare places where everyone is eager to please, and they genuinely make you feel at home.

For me, being on a gluten-free diet makes The Trail Eatery even better. Their entire menu is incredible, but the abundance of delicious gluten-free options is just awesome. Their Eggs Benedict are fantastic, and the Cinnamon Roll Pancake – which you can also get gluten-free – is truly amazing. Oh, and the Lavender Lemonade? A must-try! Consistently a perfect experience. Highly, highly recommend!

Today was my first time visiting this cute place. I met my 2 former coworkers here for our monthly lunch get-to-gether! I no longer drive, so the 115 MTS bus dropped me off at the bus stop right out front! Easy-Peasy! ✔️

I arrived early, so I sat out front! A staff member bought me water w/ lemon and a menu while I waited for my friends to arrive. Several people did come, read the menu, and leave for one reason or another!

This place offers a few lunch / lite dinner options; however, it rocks🎸 breakfast, for sure. It closes at 2 pm.

We ordered at the register, paid, and received a numbered table banner for food-to-table delivery.

Friend #1 ordered Eggs Benedict; Friend #2 ordered (her favorite) gluten-free French Toast w mixed fruit and extra lemon curd; I ordered a classic breakfast of 2 over-medium eggs, 2 sausage patties, grits, wheat toast, and 2 of the best pancakes I have ever eaten! (Tip: Ask for a carryout box with the food, place ½ of everything out of sight, and thusly avoid overeating!)

This was my first time, but it will definitely NOT be my last! Kudos to the owner and staff for a Class Act! 🔥💯

This place is great. I usually get the breakfast burrito with no meat, no cheese and add mushrooms and spinach. The salsa is really good. The pancakes are really fluffy! Food is consistently delicious. We love Trails!
