It was my first time and I was super impressed! Great place and food to share with friends. I had the hot stone bulgogi. To avoid getting the rice too hard/crispy, I mixed it as soon as it's served. Everything was served so hot (temp), you must take your time eating it. Depending on your taste, most food isn't salted enough, but adding the sweet soy sauce makes a huge difference. This place is now one of my favorites at the Convoy Food Strip and I'll definitely come back. Highly recommended

Tofu House hits the spot for comforting korean food on a rainy day! They don't have a super large menu but are most known for their combo of the Chef's Special boiled tofu soup and 4 different choices of meat. I visited on a rainy Saturday night and did not have to wait for a seat. The space is pretty small and could probably fit 50 people inside. On my last visit I got the H1 combo. The Chef's Special soup has a ton of seafood and you can pick your spice level, I like medium! It comes with a hot stone bulgogi. It's a good deal because those items separately would be $32 but the combo is $23. Both dishes come out PIPING hot and I like to cook the eggs in it right away. The hot stone stays hot for a long time and I feel like the rice gets burnt, which is the only downside. Food comes out pretty fast and can't complain about the service. It's a great option when I crave tofu stew. This location has the worst parking lot in Convoy so I definitely recommend parking on the side streets lol.

My husband convinced me to try this place again after 7 years when we first tried it and gave it a one-star ( only because our favorite tofu house is being remodeled). Most unfortunate is that the customer service has still not changed; and customer service remains a strong pet peeve of mine in reviewing a restaurant! The only difference this time is that we got to actually order and try their food. When I stepped into the restaurant, I had to wait awhile to be acknowledged and when the guy did come up to me, I told told there is two of us (my husband has been circling the parking lot to get parking). He then said, I can seat you when your other party gets here. I told him that he is here but can't find parking; I guess I showed some annoyance because he started to walk away but turned around after a few seconds and decided to seat me. Food was decent. The vegetarian boiled tofu was tasty but on the salty side. We also ordered Japjae and that was fine but extra oily. My husband ordered the seafood fried rice. He said it was good but too oily. Restroom facility was ok, clean enough, per my husband's feedback. It appears despite the poor customer service some people still patronize this place. I'm not sure I'll come back as long as there are other tofu houses around.

Food is great but music choice wise. They need to diversify their kpop selection. There's a lot more than just BTS and Blackpink. I suggested TWICE and the staff gave me a strange look like their lost. How can they not know the greatest gg in history? Other than that the food tastes amazing

I love this place. Service is 5/5 Food is 5/5 Efficiency is 5/5 This place is well run. Every time I come here, I am seated immediately. The bon chon comes immediately. I order the best thing on the menu which is obviously the bulgogi hot stone bibimbap. I kid you not I timed it once and it took less than 5 mins before our food came out. Every. Single. Time. The last time I went I swear it was 3 minutes. The check comes immediately. The waiter checks in on you multiple times throughout. I am so seriously impressed every single time I come here. And it's piping hot food which is the best kind of food. Sometimes I want to give this place a round of applause. They are so efficient it is always a pleasure to come here especially when most of our other favorite places have gone downhill after Covid. This place has always been and stayed great. Highly recommend.

I went here with my family to go eat and was treated poorly, as i brought in food from another restaurant. A man that worked there approached me saying i could not eat my food in their restaurant due to food regulations...it already smells like shit in there. I work with food in restaurant.... this is not a food regulation. I still said sorry and understood. Then they had a security lady watching me directly to make sure i didn't eat my food that was from another place. I sat there as I watched my family eat while i wasn't allowed to.

I got the meat party and it was very bland. It was overcooked and tasted burnt. Service was slow. The place itself is nice and clean.

Fun, chill, delicious spot for food. Came here for the first time and fell in love with it. The side dishes are tasty and the main dishes are well priced. The bowls they come in are great and keep the soup hot. The soups are delicious and we're perfect for a rainy day. Service was very fast and everyone was super nice. We also got seated very quickly!

My family and I ate here around 2pm on a Saturday, parking in Convoy is difficult anywhere so parking took us a moment until being able to find one! This was our first time at tofu house, and we enjoyed the food! We ordered: - seafood combo - hot stone meat party - chef special soup with galbi - bulgogi with glass noodles Overall the food was yummy, the soup stayed really hot as we ate it so it was nice that it didn't cool off too fast. The meats weren't super salty and there was a good amount of everything in the soups. My soup had 4 shrimps and 4 clams too on top of the meat and tofu added into it. So it was very filling! The service was normal, nothing too extra nothing too little. One thing we did note was when we asked for a refill on the sides (pictured) they gave us a lot! So we appreciated that (and we finished the sides again after). It's a decent sized restaurant with a chill ambience, a good place to bring your family or to eat with friends. This food is comforting after a night out or just to grab dinner when craving soup that isn't necessarily pho or ramen! But overall enjoyed the food, definitely visiting again!

Food quality has really gone down since Covid. Gyoza used to be an adequate amount, but now it's half the amount and half the size and sometimes burnt. Secondly, I ordered the kimchi soup, it lacked flavor, and less amount of rice was given and limited to one egg. Service was good, the waiter was nice. It's just unfortunate that the quality has gone down a lot : ( Used to be one of my favorite places to eat, especially on a cold day.

Tofu House offers an authentic Korean dining experience in a casual setting. Parking can be difficult, so carpooling is recommended. My personal favorite is the hot pot, where fresh ingredients are cooked right inside a red hot stone bowl.

The Tofu House off of El Cajon Blvd is what I'm used to going to. The older lady who and all the employees who worked there in the kitchen and on the floor put forth their best effort, energy, and customer service which isn't hard at all being a waiter/waitress and it goes the same for any profession YOU choose to take on... we are all human and have good days and bays. What my girlfriend and I got really had nothing to do with our waiters attitude, but his service and I'm not going to walk in, oblivious as you may choose to be, sit down and get served leftover appetizers followed by the check before our main course got to us. As much he assumed we'd be ok with that, says a lot about how he feels about you.

e were the only customers at the time and there were 2 servers working. We got the hot stone pot bulgogi and the tofu soup with kimchi. They were both just okay. Not bad, but also not mindblowingly amazing. It wasn't that expensive but I also did not think the overall quality was worth the price. The fishcake side dish was stale/dry. Service was fast but also just okay. Didn't really check up on us or anything like that. TLDR; I'd go somewhere else if I was craving Korean food next time. Pricing is about what you'd expect. Side dishes could be better.

Classic spot for Korean food on Convoy Street. The staples here are the boiled tofu soup and the hot stone bibimbap. Both are solid but a bit on the pricey side, and the Korean sides offered here are a bit lacking. The dishes do come with an egg, though!

The side dishes were minimal and the fish cakes were slightly stale tasting? Not sure how fresh they make their sides. The tofu soup with bulgogi was subpar, if you have a high level of spice tolerance-- their "danger hot" option isn't that spicy. When asking for that option, I feel that it's okay to actually make it very spicy. What really saved our dinner was the hot stone bulgogi. I enjoyed the flavor of everything combined and felt that the "meat party" option was a good choice for us. Perhaps it was because we were starving at this point. The galbi did taste a little overcooked. Not worth the place at all. But, my favorite part is scraping off the burnt rice at the bottom and having it with the tofu soup. Would recommend having any hot stone dish that way. What truly docked my rating though was the service. Everyone we encountered-- from the host who seated us, the busser, and our server, were all very unpleasant. The host had us sit outside in the cold because one person in our party was running behind. Our server was gaining gratuity from our table (we were a party of 9) and I assume that's why he was so dismissive and not friendly whatsoever. He kept asking us "anything else?" in the most bothered way. Also! Our bill wasn't itemized! It was just the total price of the dinner? I couldn't believe it. I hate to be so negative, but it really dampened our dinner. In a place like Convoy, where there are so many Korean food options, they don't stick out. Even at Friends House, where it is twice as busy, we are treated so much better. Overall, wouldn't revisit this location again and I will be ordering my hot stone bulgogi someplace else!
