I feel wildly mislead by the five star reviews. Food was okay, but the prices do not match the quality of food. There was also a strong stagnant cleaning chemical smell.We paid over $60 + tip for a 3 sushi rolls plus regular edamame. Based on atmosphere and fish quality, it should have been under $50 with tip.

Excellent sushi option if you are in Imperial Beach. Great customer service and delicious, fresh fish! We ordered a variety of specialty rolls and all were very tasty and fresh! They were all so good I couldn't pick a favorite. We got rolls with eel, raw salmon, baked salmon, tuna, all kinds of yumminess. We also got the ramen with chicken Katsu, the broth them ingredients are all very flavorful. The sushi restaurant is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking

I eat Sushi regularly and have friends who are Sushi Chef & Owners. I decided to give Tomodachi a chance as it is close to where I live. On arrival I ordered a Large Sapporo and a couple of regular items while I looked at the menu. Later I ordered a Soft Shell Crab Roll which when it arrived was extremely disappointing, it was an 8 piece cut roll each piece was the size of a quarter, their were no legs sticking out like every other Sushi restaurant I've eaten at. I then tried to order a pitcher of beer only to be told they don't serve pitchers after 8:00pm it was 8:05pm the restaurant posted closing hours were 9:00pm. 2 mores groups of guests came in but I decided I wouldn't order anything else from the menu as I couldn't have a beer with my meal. Definitely won't be going back, should have gone to one of my friend's Sushi restaurants.
