Top of the Market - San Diego

We were sat in a corner room with excellent views at the start. Ambiance was great until it was DEMOLISHED by a family with two loud poor-mannered kids combined with free-range phone zombie parents who don't care about others around them. Mom disappeared for 5 minutes and left both kids roaming by themselves (no clue where dad was). Manager recognized the situation and relocated us to a nice booth in the main dining area. We love children and have two of our own. But we would make sure our kids behave themselves and keep their voices down if we dined at an upscale restaurant. Felt bad for another younger couple who were sat in the same room.

A San Diego Gem!! Julia and Matthew took great care of us! They were both so genuine and informative. Their energy was kind and service oriented. Views of the bay was amazing but the overall service was top tier! Thanks to the lovely hostess for seating us at one of the best table in the house.

We had a super nice experience celebrating our anniversary. We were greeted with a personal menu that included our names and anniversary years. The food was delicious, the place is beautiful and the servers were beyond nice and excelled at their job. We will definitely dine here again.

From the moment we sat down, Julia greeted us with warmth, professionalism, and an impressive depth of knowledge about the menu. Every single dish she recommended was out of this world. From starters to dessert, her suggestions were flawless — it's as if she knew exactly what our taste buds needed. You could tell she genuinely knows and loves the food here, and her passion made the entire experience that much more memorable. Not only was the food spectacular, but Julia's service was attentive without being overbearing, and her timing was impeccable. She elevated our meal into a dining experience we'll be talking about for a long time. Top of the Market, you've got a gem in Julia. I can't wait to come back — and next time, I'll be asking for her by name.

Outstanding restaurant for food, service, ambience, and a great view. The Seabass was exceptional as was Gabby our waitress. A must go if you're in San Diego. 

Was a bday celebration for a friend. Our party size was smaller than anticipated but they accommodated quickly and gave us a beautiful table with views of the bay and naval ships out in the enclosed veranda. Quiet diners around us so the atmosphere was perfect. The receptionist even called me ahead to get our birthday girl's name for personalized bday menus! However from there kinda went downhill. Took 20-30 minutes for my drink order to show up (appetizer came out first) and had to ask multiple times for ice and more butter. Cocktail sauce was god-awful more like they had salsa and put horseradish in it. Food was honestly okay, but the dessert was delicious. I remember the service being better before. Plenty of expensive spots in San Diego to dine, so not sure I'm going to shell out for this one again.

Outstanding night for my partner's 40th birthday celebration. Jonathan was great making excellent recommendations on the menu and handling our wine choices and "cool down". The Swordfish and Sea Bass were excellent.

First visit to restaurant. Sat at the chef counter. Definitely best seats in the house. Even get a special amuse bouche at the counter. Food was very good. Exceeded my expectations. It is a true hidden spot on the waterfront. Excellent views of the water.

This is the best view of sunset at the outside dinning table, the food is delicious and the services are amazing. I'm highly recommend this restaurant.

The flavors of every dish were well balanced and delicious. Service was great from the entire staff from hostess, to service, to chefs. Sitting at the chef's counter was excellent!

The service and the food were outstanding. The octopus appetizer is the best we have tried over the years. Everyone in our group had different entrees, and everyone raved about their meal. Great experience and the views are spectacular.

I could have put 5 but they changed the menu and staff. Staff are new, slower service. They changed how they prepare cioppino. I'm disappointed!

We ate at Top of the Market in 2024 when we were in town for a conference and had a very nice experience so we returned again this year. Once again we had a very nice dinner. Our waitstaff was attentive and friendly. The food was well prepared and quite delicious. We had originally requested outdoor seating but due to the cooler temperature that day we asked if they could accommodate us inside instead. They did so very graciously and we still had a very nice view of the water. We would go back again without hesitation.

We always enjoy dinner at the Top of the Market. The view, decor, service and food are all excellent. Already looking forward to our next visit.
