I’ve come for many times with family and friends. However, I got the worst experience tonight. The owner refused me to order family combo. Her reason: that is for multiple people. But why did she allowed me to order premium family set and wagyu family combo? Secondly, she insisted I should grill all the stuff and take them home. What? I paid for the food and I should be the person to decide how to deal with them, right? Very ridiculous. This is my last time here and I decided to pay 0 tip.

Had my birthday there, and you can absolutely taste the good quality of the food there. Recommend their premium family combo, I’ll say it’s a good amount for 1-2 people. The regular beef tongue is also a great option. Really nice service, the only problem is it’s a little pricey, but fair enough for what you get.

After an amazing trip to Japan, our son wanted to relive his favorite meal we had there (bbq) for his birthday back in San Diego. We had a great time. Food and service was very good - just like we had in Kyoto.

This was our first visit to a Japanese BBQ restaurant, so our basis for comparison is Korean BBQ which we eat frequently. The grill setup and raw foods were very similar, but we were majorly disappointed. There were no oils or seasonings available, and only 2 sauces which you had to ask to have refilled. All food had to be ordered a la cart instead of being available buffet style. The meat we ordered (family dinner special) was absolutely delicious. But the experience was tainted by the vegetables not being included and being WAY overpriced for very small variety and portions. It seems to me that vegetables and rice should be included when ordering expensive meat combinations so we felt nickeled and dime, and left unsatisfied even though we spent more than we do at the buffet style BBQ places. There were many Japanese-looking people there that seemed happy, so maybe Japanese BBQ is just not for us. That said, since the food is so similar, we greatly prefer buffet-style BBQ where you can get whatever combination of veggies, meats, seasonings, and sides you want. The higher quality meat we had at Tsuruhashi (which again was truly delicious) wasn’t enough to tilt the scales enough for us to go back.

The service was excellent, staff friendly, and the seating very comfortable.

Parking: The lot is usually full, but there is parking nearby on the street usually.

The food quality and the staff's service are top notch. However, the pricing is way off. After spending $150 on two people I was hungry so went to H Mark down the street and got a pastry. I also ate a spare jerky that was left in my car. The tea was delicious as well.Next time, I'll probably go to the Korean BBQ in the same shopping center and the two of us will eat and be full for 1/3 the price.

Great Yakiniku BBQ plan in SD. They offer both Japanese and American Wagyu. Very good quality of meat selections. They also offer Korean style vegetable pickle combo, soon tofu soup and Bibimbap. Attentive service from the staff. Will come back here again next time when I am in town.

The meat was great but they didn't list the weight or how many pieces you got so it was deceptively small. We got 4 skinny strips of ribeye for $22. I guess I had expected the amount I typically see at KBBQ. But the quality of the meat was good. They charge for all the side dishes and rice. The beef tartare was also adorably (and sadly) very tiny. Between 2 of us, the total bill (before tip and without drinks) was $100 and we left still hungry.

Don’t seem to like people of color and they add a 20% gratitude to bill because they know you wouldn’t be tipping for the lack of service. Go to gyu kaku Japanese bbq instead much better more quality and bigger.

Only problem, it wasn't posted or was I told that a 23% was automatically added to the bill. I thought a 25 dollar tip was appropriate for a 195 dollar bill I wasn't informed that a 32 dollar tip was added to the bill.
