Twiggs on Adams is in severe decline. I lived in the area for nearly 10 years until 4 years ago. I always enjoyed coming here but on my last few visits, I've been greatly disappointed. They've been curtailing hot food offerings by early to mid afternoon. Looks like they're drastically cutting back on staffing and service. Today (9/21/23), they've posted new hours taking effect on the 25th - closing at 3 pm nearly every day. The only food on offer today that was remotely appealing was a day-old hunk of banana bread. That and a small black plain coffee came to $8.25. Plus tip. I felt like leaving no tip but I fell victim to the current excessive tipping culture that's enveloping us everywhere. I will not be back.

I scheduled a wedding cake tasting appointment that took place last week at Twiggs. It was a very unpleasant experience. The cakes were not amazing. Most importantly, My friend and I were treated with the outmost disrespect and rudeness, as customers. Unfortunately, the manager in charge of the bakery did not witness Clarabella's poor customer service. Luckily, the coffee shop manager was present and witnessed how poorly we were treated. Ruben, the manager, was very nice and apologetic- we really appreciated his gesture. Twiggs bakery has lost my business! I'll be looking for other wedding cake vendors for my special day.

Very nice comfortable neighborhood, coffee and bakery café with good coffee and tea drink options. I had the prune scone. It was delicious. So was my decaf coffee oatmilk latte and a Matcha latte. Friendly owner!

I have been coming here for many years. It's in my hood. But today was a hard pill of reality. This croissant egg, sausage, and cheeze breakfast sandwhich with medium coffee for $16.43... Inflation is a reality. Plan to spend quite a bit for a family visit of 4. Thank God it is super delicious. The cooks indeed save the price!!

Pros:* Great Desserts* Okay Cakes* Good Service; In-person and through emailCons:* The Victorian cake. I love rose flavored items, but had a really unpleasant experience with their cake. When we opened the plastic wrapped tasting, the whole board smelled bad. I was then surprised when the cakes tasted good. The only one I had to spit back out was the victorian cake. I'm sure its popular, so maybe the batch we got the person put too much rose extract. Honestly, I don't know. If it is bought premade that way then that is just wrong. Extra:* Their tasting is a great deal for what you get to sample.

EDIT 6/13: I’ve gone in to Twiggs twice this week, and can say that things have definitely improved! The space is clean, well stocked, the coffee has been excellent each time, and great service. I’m happy to know that the team has made some positive changes!———I’m sharing this review in hopes that it will lead to some changes and improvement in adams once beloved twiggs. As a long-time customer that would frequent twiggs 2-3x a week for a cup of coffee and a nice space to work, i am disappointed to see the apparent downgrade in service, quality, and cleanliness. The staff appear quite somber and bothered by people walking through the door. It almost seems as if they are paid more to be unfriendly! The quality of the coffee and cups has also gone down, and the place seemed to be less tidy as time went on. I hope positive energy is restored here and we can be greeted again by friendly faces and a good quality cup of coffee.

This is one of my favorite places to work and hang out. The staff is always pleasant, courtesous, and very friendly. The coffee is good and the baked good/paninis are just what I need when working. It's casual and yet a good working atomosphere. Plus occasional readings in the nextdoor space are a good way to keep track of the lit. scene in town.Great for casuals sit downs, too!Highly recommend!

I happen to really like this coffee shop. It's a nice, casual, calm place to work in with lots of tables and outlets and I usually go there for a good stretch of time. The staff is very friendly and very accomodating. The food is excellent, orders are filled in a timely manner and I have had no issues with what I order. I also like the fact there is a performance space attached and I have heard some wonderful poets there. The events are always well-run and orderly, and frequently well-publicized.As for the pasteries, the pasteries are excellent. I have not had occasion to order one of their cakes, but visually, the cakes are stunning. The baker/decorator is very talented and the cakes I have seen look stunning and delicious. If you need a nice, casual place to hang out or work, this is an excellent place. Parking in street parking, and usually not difficult to find. It's a good spot any day of the week and the atmosphere is very consistent.

This is my local coffee shop and up until a couple months ago was my go-to. They were recently bought by a new owner. I’ve tried to give the the benefit of the doubt as I’m sure they are coming in and wanting to be part of the community. However the past few visits my coffee has not been great. The staff was completely turned over from the long time baristas (not sure if that was the owners or employees choice). Definitely NOT the same friendly smiling faces. They don’t seem sure of their skills and on one occasion a month ago even overheard the person making my coffee ask their coworker what to do and then watched the order be only half fixed. Pretty much dumped my $8 mocha down the drain. Didn’t really mind the imperfect coffee because it’s just my once a week treat from my home brew. Unfortunately, upon my last visit I was greeted with a new change - the new owners have eliminated one of their size offerings (used to be sm/med/lrg) now there are just two. But the new “large” (old medium) is the same price that the large used to be. So basically paying the same price for 4 less ounces. Pretty big mark-up percentage wise. It’s definitely a bummer. I would recommend black market bakery at 30th/Adams instead. The pastries are better.while I used to go to twiggs for the friendly faces, I will now be walking past their store a couple blocks for my coffee orders going forward.

I've been a regular here for over a decade and this place has completely plummeted in multiple facets of quality. Not a single smile from any employee for at least a year and mind you, they must know me since I'm here 4x a week. They haven't taken time to get to know my name or drink... Not ever! But, after my regular drink went up $2.00 from just a few days ago to now, that was my last visit. You just need to be better at everything first, before you deserve any additional money for anything.

This used to be my spot since it's walking distance from my house. But the recent reviews are true, this place has changed :-(It's apparent that it's run by a new owner. I miss all the old baristas that worked there. Today I visited and it felt so awkward. Girls at the counter looked pissed off at me and each other lol. Eh, not going back again.

Came here for a simple americano coffee one morning. It was ready in two minutes and it was not good. Watery, flat, and overall a huge disappointment. Two stars because it looks like a nice place to study or get some work done and the people working here are nice.

Had a biscuit & coffee here this morning. A great way to start the day. Biscuit was $3.50 really good bargain. Pastries are reasonable. Coffee is good.Parking: Street parking. Hit & miss.

We got our wedding cake here and absolutely loved it!! Somehow the wedding cake tasted ever better than our tasting! To start off, our tasting was great! We were able to make a reservation and then had a table reserved for us where we could taste all of their cakes. The bakery coordinator was helpful with questions and walked us through pricing. She even wrapped up our leftover cake samples to take home! We were able to choose a different flavor for each tier and even customize some of the tiers by swapping chiffon for buttermilk cake and removing nuts from one of the flavors. Our wedding cake turned out really well! Also Twiggs was one of the more reasonably priced wedding cake options that we looked at and it was the best tasting! We loved the Victorian wedding flavor and highly recommend. Twiggs was also able to do one tier of gluten free cake!We froze leftovers from the wedding and it's such a treat to enjoy a slice. I love that Twiggs is an everyday bakery too, because we can order a new cake in one of our wedding cake flavors to celebrate future anniversaries!

This is my neighborhood coffeehouse, and I have always tried to support it. I continue going here because they do have delicious espresso, and baked goods. Their bandito breakfast scramble on the weekends is our favorite! My daughter loves the Italian cream sodas. Truly, everything is YUMMY!What I don't love is their coffee cups. I swear.I walk here, and EVERY TIME, WITHOUT FAIL my coffee leaks all over the place. At $4.50 a pop for my americano, I wish they would invest in better quality to go coffee cups! It is frustrating. Nobody likes to start their day with hot coffee leaking all over themselves... Also, service seems to have improved. There are a lot of new faces. The blonde gentlemen that worked there for years was never overly kind or friendly. It always felt like I was bothering him by being there rather than him caring about building rapport and giving good service. (I promise I am not a difficult guest or anything, I work in the service industry and just appreciate friendliness-- especially before I have had my coffee! Lol.) It happened enough times that I thought it worth mentioning. The last few times have been a much more pleasant experience! Cheers!
