Delicious food and a great first experience with Filipino cuisine! I stumbled upon this spot while walking around Liberty Station (shortly after moving to San Diego) and decided to give it a try. The menu was pretty limited back then - just pork belly over rice - but the owner recommended the ube bread with butter, and it was incredible. Eating it fresh and warm on the spot was unbeatable. I’ve ordered it for takeout since, but nothing compares to that straight-from-the-oven...
I'm glad the market is open on my second visit. It was closed on the first day I was in San Diego. It is very crowded here, finding a table could get difficult. I Ordered the Kare-kare bowl, the flavor is good, really tasty. The only thing I would've liked better, perhaps to add more sauce on top of the rice.
Atmosphere is just like a depot seating sporadic. Some seating directly in front of white rice. Lechon was yummy, and garlic fried rice was divine just not a fan of the size of peppercorn but besides that great. They don't take cash just a side note.
