I Love Wokou Ramen in Carmel Valley! This restaurant has an amazing vibe with beautiful murals and lovely seating both indoors and outdoors. I could go every week for delicious Ramen and Bao buns. All the food is incredible and so are the cocktails!! Then to top all that off, there is a fantastic staff. Alex and Erin are friendly, fun and attentive.I highly recommend this Gem of a restaurant and Bar; you will love it!
Mediocre fast food type of join. Did not even bother to fry an egg freshly. Cold egg in my Ramen. Next time we will go somewhere else for Japanese food. If you just care to drink and enjoy some “drunk food” this can be your spot. Otherwise go somewhere else.
I rate this as such.... Great food our family enjoys it... With that being said. We usually have no issues with the staff but on the recent visit my wife had to look for the host to seat us .. She waited 6 or so minutes before she went to look for the host.... The chef said he was over there ( pointing to the bar) yup he took some shots... Not very professional
Good place to dine out
This was probably the worst restaurant meal I’ve ever had. Our two vegan spicy miso ramen bowls were so tasteless we might as well have eaten plain ramen in a bowl of colored hot water. There was no hint of miso and no spice whatsoever. Even adding sriracha and some soy sauce was not enough to give any flavor. The crispy tofu cubes (before hitting the ramen) were not crispy at all as they were half fried and so ended up cold cubes of slimy tofu encased in a clear, gluey mass of greasy dough - only made worse once it got wet in the ramen bowl! Our veggie spring rolls were basically lettuce lightly wrapped (not even tightly) in rice paper. The peanut dipping sauce was good and spicy but was just not enough to overcome the blandness.
I have come to love this place. I come out of the Mission beach area just to have lunch here. The service during the lunch time hours is by far the best I have had a chance to experience. The food is absolutely worth the price, fresh fish sushi with new and creative appetizer dishes has made this an unbelievable find for me personally. I highly recommend this establishment, and that is a rarity for me to say anything about a restaurant.
Friendly and attentive staff, good drink specials, nice indoor/outdoor environment
Great Saturday night spot with live music, easy-going vibes, Japanese-themed gastropub-esque decor, fun cocktails and a full service sushi bar. Variety of Asian Fusion cuisine options from ramen to bao buns to sushi rolls served with fresh ingredients and vibrant presentations...the sashimi and shishito peppers are a great combo! Customer service was attentive and friendly even on a busy night with many guests! Lots more to explore on the menu and will be back soon! Shout-out to Chef Will for the gorgeous sashimi presentation!

We visited for dinner on a Sunday evening while on vacation. It wasn’t very crowded. Our server was pleasant and the food was delicious. We would visit again.
Restaurantji Recommends
Food is great. I usually go during Padres games as they have food/drink specials but their menu outside of that is good too. I recommend their gyoza especially the sauce they serve it in, one or the best asian style sauces I have ever had.
Great food and even better service. Zack, the manager, was extremely attentive and friendly, and took time to talk to us about the menu, neighborhood and city. The food was amazing. I loved the black garlic ramen and my wife’s miso was fantastic. We’ll be back next time we’re in San Diego.
First time at Wokou. The server was very friendly, attentive but not suffocating. We each had the garlic Ramen and had it made extra spicy. It was delicious and fresh. I would recommend trying if you haven't already been here.
Placed an order for pick up, where we were told 20 minutes. It took closer to an hour of waiting only to find out that they gave us the wrong order once we got home after all of our waiting and then they were hardly apologetic and did mot try to make it right by us by giving us a refund at all. We went back to pick up the correct order and it was WRONG A SECOND TIME. this place is absolutely terrible. Won't be back.
Good service and friendly staff. The best part of the meal was the beer. However, the food was mediocre especially considering the price. The vegan spicy miso ramen came out cold on top as if it had been sitting out for a while. The vegetarian noodles were not appetizing and the broth had little flavor. This was barely touched and I didn't take it home.I also ordered the gyoza and chicken wings. These came out hot, but really didn't have a lot of flavor. The wings were tossed in General Tso sauce, but I might try other wing flavors if I go back.Hey Chef. You should taste the food that comes out of your kitchen to make sure the temperature is right and that it is seasoned properly. You should either lower the prices or improve the quality of the food. The front of house service was attentive.
