This place is tucked away in plaza off friar road. Not the easiest to find but its a secluded spot that doesnt feel stuffy. Plenty of parking. The bbq beef ribs are cooked just right. The mac and cheese is velvety and bursting with cheddar flavor. Portions are huge so come hungry.
The food was delicious! My husband and I shared a combo plate. We choose the TriTip and pulled pork for entres with a baked potato for each of us as our two sides. We were there as part of a group of 11 people celebrating a birthday and our server was so attentive to such a large group. She was amazing and a credit to the restaurant. We willgo back again soon.
Great food and service.
Always delicious.
I had the classic burger with Mac n cheese. Both had no taste. My husband makes better burgers at home than the classic. For a $33.00 It tasted like just meat. The meat had no additional flavoring. The Mac n cheese in the box is better than the Mac n cheese there. I personally wouldn't go back unless I was gifted a dinner for two to make up for the poor quality of food tonight.
Excellent BBQ place. Highly recommend the brisket with the BBQ beans.
I highly dislike there food because when you order to go the chicken is dry and the fry’s are wet and when I used to order burgers from this place they would always be saggy
Excellent bbq.
We absolutely loved our experience at Wood Ranch! The waiting area was spacious, atmosphere was down to earth & lively and the seating is great for large parties.
The outside patio was heated with similar ambience as the inside seating. Our waiter, Kage, was charming, attentive, had great recommendations and provided top notch service! It’s not often that you have an enjoyable dining experience, combined with delicious food and a waiter that anticipates your every need … not to mention he even knows how to take excellent photos at all the right angles :>
Delicious! It’s a must go to every time I’m visiting San Diego.

Best baby back ribs and service is always great
I recently visited WoodRanch BBQ and had an overall decent experience, though there were a few notable issues with the food. The restaurant itself was clean and inviting, with a nice atmosphere that made for a comfortable dining experience. The service was friendly and attentive, which definitely enhanced the visit. Our server was polite, and the food arrived in a timely manner.
However, the quality of the food didn’t quite meet expectations. My cousin ordered a vegan burger, and unfortunately, a wrapper was left on her vegan patty, which was disappointing and a bit concerning. On top of that, my brisket was dry, lacking the tender, juicy texture I was hoping for. It didn’t have the rich flavor I usually associate with good BBQ.
While the service and ambiance were great, the food left a lot to be desired. With some attention to detail in the kitchen, I believe WoodRanch BBQ could improve their offerings and create a more memorable dining experience.
Mac and cheese side dish was creamy and delicious; A bit rich. My daughter loved that they had ribs on the kids menu and they were fantastic. I got the pulled pork, which was a little mushier than I like. Overall would definitely recommend and head back.
Always good
It was ok. The sirloin was tough, even cooked at med rare. They definitely don't let it get to room temp before throwing it on the grill. Rolls were delicious. Service was good.
