So I’ve lived in Okinawa for two years and on mainland Japan for an additional two years so I know what the authentic vibes are and what isn’t lol. Obv we’re in the States, so I didn’t expect much. Came in with no reservation, male waiter took our orders. He arrived with several appetizers but I guess there was a miscommunication with one. Chicken skin with ponzu VS fried chicken skin. My friend didn’t realize he ordered chicken skin w/ponzu as opposed to just ordering friend chicken skin. Waiter seemed offended and took it personal when it was brought and stated “well technically it’s fried chicken breast.” Lmao. Ok, brother. He was never to be seen again for the rest of the night, he seemed like he was avoiding us. Other waitresses went to our table to follow up instead and gave us our checks at the end of the night. We had waited roughly 40 min after we placed our order for numerous Yakitori only to raise our hand and ask a server if there was an update in which she had stated that our order got lost. Ok. So she had it entered again or she stated she’ll enter the order in again, and we received it within 10 min. Still kind of confused how our orders didn’t reach the chefs, and how we were waiting for 40 min until we actually figured to ask for additional assistance on an update. Seems kind of shady after the talk/miscommunication with one appetizer with our original waiter (who we didn’t see come to our table for the remainder of our time). Food good, atmosphere ok.

I recently visited Yokohama Yakitori Koubou, and it was a mixed experience. On the plus side, the miso soup and skewers were quite good, and the rice was decent. However, the cabbage wasn’t the freshest, and they gave a lot of it with just a small amount of mayo. The oolong tea was also not great.

As for the service, no one really smiled or seemed all that positive. The real issue came after I chose not to tip because the prices in the restaurant were higher than what I’d seen online. A staff member actually followed me outside and was being quite loud about it, pointing at the tip line on the receipt and basically trying to pressure me into tipping. People around us could hear the whole thing, which made it really uncomfortable.

In short, the food had some highlights, but the overall experience was overshadowed by the uncomfortable and loud confrontation about tipping

Really really really bad attitude. Only card and cash but I only have Apple Pay. They let us to go get money at ATM but we cannot since we didn’t bring card. We came back to see if there’s any negotiation, the guy at the counter just said “you don’t have any friends? You don’t have any friends in San Diego? Even one friend to get some cash?”. Super rude. You can just say “sorry we can’t”

Came in as a walk-in, gave our number and waited 1 hour. Got a call but it only rang for one second and when I tried to call back the call would not go through. Took around 10 calls before they finally picked up and we were informed that the table was given away but they would give us the next one. We informed them we would be waiting outside and were told it would be another 30 minutes. While waiting outside we witnessed the host calling people on the waitlist then immediately hanging up (which explains why my phone only rang for a second). We went in to check how much longer and were told our table was given away again. The host did not seem apologetic at all when we informed them that this happened twice. We told them we would wait outside and they told us we would get the next table. We waited another 30 minutes before just leaving and going to another restaurant. I never received another call. I’m not sure who they have at the host station but they need to be fired.

The waiter with hat and tattoo is very vey rude ,instead of saying you are two mins late u should go gently and politely ,he came to me and burst out ,insulting me raise volume like “be a human “,”you are so rude “
Restaurant manger or other staff didn’t react at all and just let the customer being treated like this can show their attitude and vision to customers.
Will never ever come back ,the food is ok but the service is the worst ever.i never write any review online but this time I have to .It’s just out of my mind. He is not even my waiter and come out of nowhere acting like this RUDE.

Tastes not that bad, there’s a mean waitress. You people who work here probably know who I’m talking about. The rest of people are good.

The chicken are so fresh and delicious! Also the beef tongue is a must try. Light smoky flavor adds new layer of aroma to the skewers. So happy to have such authentic Japanese cuisine here. I would at least pay double the price for this same level food in NYC. Service is not so warm but its OK for me.

Second time here, waited a little but not crazy long. The food here definitely worth the wait.

The thigh is soft and tender, and the chicken meatball is very flavorful. Everything is good in this place. It’s even better with the ASAHI super dry, it’s my favorite drink.

Service also very nice. Highly recommended!
