It’s been ages since I last visited this restaurant! A friend raved about their Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs (Guobaorou), so I came back with some friends. The portion of Guobaorou is generous, and it’s truly delicious—crispy and flavorful. We also ordered Jellyfish with Vinegar Dressing. The jellyfish here is quite thick and chunky, not the smooth, silky kind I’m used to, so I wouldn’t recommend it.
Then there’s the Braised Local Chicken in Iron Pot. The picture looked super tempting, so I specifically asked if it came with the steamed rolls (huajuan) shown in the photo. The waiter told me they only have steamed buns (mantou) instead. When it arrived, turns out they’re machine-made frozen buns bought from the supermarket. This dish is a letdown, so I don’t suggest it either.
On the bright side, the Sizzling Pork Kidneys were pretty good! We also wanted to order Peking Duck, but it requires advance reservation—make sure to call ahead if you want to try it.

This was my first time trying roast duck, and the roast duck here has crispy skin, succulent meat, and firm skin. The sauce is just right, perfect for enjoying with family or friends, and the price is also affordable.

The food here is authentic and tasty, but unfortunately the service was extremely disappointing. Even during a not-so-busy hour, our table was completely ignored. We tried calling and waving to the server several times, but never received any attention. In the end, I had to walk to the front desk myself both to place our order and to pay the bill.

Very authentic Chinese northern Dongbei food. A friend from that area recommended me and it was so good - best meal I had in SD so far - cheap and big plates!

Absolutely delicious! The Peking duck was crispy and tender, and the pickled cabbage pork stew was so comforting. Loved the salted egg yolk pumpkin — creamy and rich. The stir-fried pork with peppers and boneless spicy chicken feet were super flavorful. And the sweet and sour fried pork had the perfect crunch. sooooooooo gooood!!!

I’ve always wondered why this restaurant seems to have so few customers. Today, I finally decided to try it out and ordered six dishes in total. Unfortunately, every single one of them was far too salty, to the point that it was difficult to enjoy the meal. One particular dish, which contained radish and carrot, tasted noticeably sour. I brought this to the attention of the waitress, who responded that vinegar had been added, so the sourness was “normal.” However, as someone who is Chinese and familiar with how these ingredients are typically prepared, I can confidently say that the taste was off—it was not what you’d expect from a properly seasoned dish.
Instead of addressing my concern, the staff defended the excessive saltiness by saying that many customers actually enjoy salty food and made it seem like I was the problem. This experience left me disappointed and explained why this place struggles to attract repeat customers. Quality and responsiveness to feedback are key in the restaurant business, and unfortunately, this visit fell short on both.

Great lunch at Yummy House! Very appropriately named! We ordered the sweet and sour pork, steamed shrimp with garlic, and stir fried cabbage with glass noodles. Friendly service and the food comes out quickly. Spacious and comfortable seating. Recommend!
