When I can’t sleep, I remember the time I had dinner here and I miss the taste of this place.

I love this place, great atmosphere, suitable for all ages, delicious food, extensive wine list, simply the best meal I have ever had! Delicious! Highly recommended!

My friend made a reservation for us but on that day I am very sick so I called them to ask if we can reschedule. They asked the name of the reservation 3 times and were checking the wrong date the whole time before they eventually found the reservation. Whatever I say the person just said no refund without listening to me. I asked if we can take the food for to go and was told it’s not an option here even though we paid. I totally respect other peoples schedule and understand the cancellation policy but I found the service of this place lacks hospitality. The tone of the person answering the call is very unfriendly.

Poetry on a plate. Some of the food made me cry at how good it was. The wine sommelier is great. Give him a budget and explain the type of wine you like and it's amazing. Only flaw the staff is a bit too attentive, and only Italian wines.

I received a gift certificate for a dining experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent, although after a 4 course meal, I left that I was still hungry (portion sizes are extremely tiny). Service is over the top-waiters are very attentive and anticipate your every need throughout the meal. Atmosphere is nice but a bit pretentious with a restrictive dress code. What's absolutely outrageous is the price. A meal for 2 people with wine pairing (2oz pours x4) cost us $821!!
It is an offense to poverty-if I weren't gifted a $600 gift card, I would have never dined in such place.

One of my most memorable meals. 11/10. Accommodates gluten free.

Acquerello is hands down the best Michelin-starred restaurant I’ve visited so far. Everything - from the food to the service to the atmosphere - was truly exceptional.

The highlight of the night for me was the ridged pasta with faux foie gras - absolutely unforgettable! Every dish was beautifully balanced and flavorful, and the portions were surprisingly generous for a fine dining experience. We all walked out feeling full and completely satisfied.

The service was S+ - warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. The staff made the whole evening feel special. The atmosphere was elegant but relaxed, perfect for enjoying a thoughtful meal.

And the final touch? A charming dessert cart wheeled out after the meal so you could choose your sweets - such a fun and delightful way to end the evening.

Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for an exceptional fine dining experience that still feels personal and satisfying.

Went with high expectations but the experience overall did not reach the level of satisfaction that we were hoping for. The food was good but not great, and only one dish was really memorable and stood out. It is the supplemental dish that we additionally ordered. The wine recommendations were great.

Amazing restaurant, the food was delicious and the service perfect. The homemade pasta with the white truffle were soooo good. They have a pastry Chef so make sure you have room for dessert!

I hadn't been since pre-pandemic and wanted to see if it was as charming and delicious as it had been. The short answer is, no.
The service has lost its quiet, gentle refinement, replaced with a jarringly loud captain lacking any warmth.
The food is good, but again, lacked the charm and comfort I remember, instead the food shows more modern deconstruction techniques and aggressive flavors.
A lot of what I see here I am seeing in many established restaurants post-pandemic as they struggle to find their place with younger diners in a changed dining ethos.
I wish them luck, but it will take a lot to get me come back and try it again - the cost is too high for me to experiment.

food is ok but not worth the price. Service is terrible, very unattended and petty. For the cheap tiny dessert served in a trolley, the server strictly asked us to only pick up a few and give up something already in our plates if we want something else

I will be more than curious on how this restaurant keep 2 stars this year. Service are extremely slow and you can tell they are suffering from understaffed. Had a fishbone from the trout and waiter simply take the plate away without a word. Waiting for 30mins to get our wine menu and no one talks to us at all as well for the first 30 minutes. Had been over 50+ michelin stars restaurant and that one definitely not worth 2 stars. Save you money and go somewhere else.

The vegetarian tasting menu and wine pairing was excellent, as was the service. One of the few great restaurants in SF with Michelin stars that doesn't have a long and difficult reservation process.... I think we were able to get a table within two weeks on a date and time of our choosing. Highly recommend!

Vegetarian options: You can request a vegetarian (and maybe also a vegan) tasting menu, which is exquisite.

This was my second time at Acquerello and it is definitely my last! In fact, I'm telling all my friends to keep away from it.

My first time dining at Acquerello was at a 75 Birthday Party in their private room and the first bite, of my first serving I had to send back as it was so salty. The rest of the meal was ok, but nothing special. I thought, oh well, an off night and it was for a larger gathering.

I returned again early July with 3 other persons and, again, I was disappointed. The service was good, but the food mediocre at best. Most of the items where rather tasteless. On top of being way overpriced for what you get, in our initial reservation (which you have to secure with $100 per person [I think this is ridiculous]) we stated that one of our guests was allergic to strawberries. When we arrived the maitre de asked about any food issues, we stated — strawberries. The waiter asked, again, we said one of our group was anaphylactically allergic to strawberries and then the server asked, yet another time. Well you guessed it, his duck entree was served with strawberries. Immediately, we complained. The side to this dish was changed, but not a new entree ... they simply removed the duck serving it with a different side. What really burned me was that no apology from the chef/owner and no overture was offered to compensate for their mistake. Then came the wine pairing bill of $1645 for what was, as I said above, a mediocre meal. On top of all this, the restaurant made it very clear in emails before we arrived that men needed to wear a sports coat and yet, of all the men in the restaurant that evening (about 9 or so) we were the only ones with coats and one man was sitting near us in a black t-shirt. So, if this is their policy, they should enforce it, but in my opinion all Acquerello cares about is $$$$ and living off their past glory. They don't deserve 1 MICHELIN star much less 2!

If you're looking for a good restaurant try Gary Danko or Birdsong. Whatever you do, stay away from Acquerello!
