Must preorder! They sell out by 1 or 2pm
I treated myself to the Kaisen Don, walked over and picked it up for lunch. With tax, it came out to just over $78. Once I got there around 11:30am, there was no line, only a few people in the store.
Staff was very polite, explained to me to have it in room temp for 30min for the best taste and offered me a pair of chopsticks & a bag. The shop itself is very simple and a beautiful space.
I enjoyed it at a park and the quality was excellent. From the packaging to the flavor, you can tell they really care about the presentation — visually, taste wise, and the experience too.
I was full half way (it's also a large bento), but it was so good and I wanted to finish it while it's still fresh, so I thoroughly enjoyed every scrape of it! Highly recommend :)

So sad that they are moving to Fi-Di! 😭Mindblowingly good. Each bento is about $35-60. You can order in advance online but still have to line up to get it.

Delicious sushi to go on Fillmore Street. Boxes are beautifully composed. I enjoyed the salmon combination box, which included several different prescriptions of salmon.

We bought 7 different kinds of sushi, including 8-piece omakase, bara chirashi, toro sashimi, fotomaki and hand roll. The entire package presentation was outstanding, even the wasabi, pickles, soy sauce, chopsticks and napkins are considered top quality. Must try for all Japanese sushi lovers.

Waited 10 minutes before they opened. Second in line. They brought out tiny cups of hot green tea while we waited outside (it was breezy/chilly in the shade).
Chose Kaisen Don (L) since it’s my first time and I’m not sure when I’ll be back.
Told to wait 30-60 minutes before eating.
Took it back to eat in my hotel room. Uni and negi toro were my favorite. Wish there was more wasabi. Pickled veggies were really good, too. Didn’t need another meal for the rest of the day. (Just dessert, lol.)
Will try the 10pc Omakase Nigiri 6 Negitoro Maki Combo next time.

This qualifies as an expensive lunch ($55/omakase box), but is much cheaper than a similar quality experience would be at a restaurant or even for takeout!
My wife and I enjoyed the quality of the sushi and the maki, as well as the pickles. The lean tuna, flounder, striped jack, and salmon pieces we're out favorites. Would recommend as a nice treat!

Very good omakase for a good price. Lined up at 11:45 and reached the front in 30 minutes. They sold out at 1:30. Order on toast to reserve. Pickup and ordering line are the same.

Chirashi rice was way too cold and hard to eat. Nigiri tastes great with fresh finish and nice bento presentation.

This cute sushi spot is just a take out spot. They give you various sushi boxes from salmon nigiri to their version of omakase. I love this spot for their quality and their take out version of sushi. They will be moving to a new location in downtown by October.

I think it was very good! It was the best scallop I have had: very full and fresh and not very sticky. I haven't had kurodai before I think and I really liked the tea flavor. Fish seemed fresh enough but not exceptionally so (as to be expected).
The brown rice was the main compromise in order to maintain texture, but I felt like it really really lacked the sweet/sour flavor balance that sushi rice usually provides. Something was overly salty and I wonder if it was the rice.
Overall I don't think it's easy to find that consistent quality of fish and variety at a better price point, but I prefer it as a single person lunch rather than a date night bc it will lack the experience.

Really love this casual sushi bento takeout place every time I’ve been, got the 10pc omakase and tekka don L to enjoy in the park today. Their bento boxes are made fresh daily and do sell out, so be sure to go before 1 or 2pm. Highly recommend if you want great tasting fresh fish but don’t want to go to a sit down place, quality is basically the same and the sushi rice is very tasty as well!! Metered street parking nearby on Fillmore and the surrounding streets if you drive
