Update: this was resolved.

A group of friends went out here last Saturday and had a table reserved. At the end of the night we split the bill with two cards; a 20% gratuity was included. I did not add in additional gratuity and neither did my friend. Our credit card statements have an additional 25% gratuity added on each of our portions of the bill which was extremely alarming.

This place has huge potential, however it was currently run in a way where my friend and I decided to leave again after 10 minutes. The interior is very well designed for a kind of speakeasy or oldtimey or steampunky atmosphere, but then they play some r&b / hip-hop music that completely doesn't fit that style. Additionally it's played so loud that it's hard to talk, which just doesn't fit with the style of the interior. This isn't a club. The cocktails .. they looked really unique and adventurous, but we got two different ones that seemed interesting and neither of us liked either, they seemed to prioritize sounding unique and special over actually being good.
So it felt like this bar was having a bit of an identity crisis. I wish they'd lower the music, go for a more appropriate genre (no need for a DJ either ..), and then hire a good bartender to redo their cocktail menus. Service itself was courteous and quick. I also like that they do seating and don't overcrowd this bar.

The drink was mixed well and strong. It's quite dark in the bar and the music is quite loud. We were served water in plastic cups, whereas others were served water in a glass. We didn't have much time so we only ordered one drink. When asked, they also explained what the drink tasted like. All in all a speakeasy that was absolutely fine.

Unfortunately not what we had hoped for. If you're hoping for a relaxed bar, you're unfortunately wrong here. The volume of the music and the background noise are more reminiscent of a club. I was very surprised that we were served the free water in plastic cups, but other tables were served in normal glasses. The drinks are very unusual and also taste very good. The waitress seemed very annoyed when we wanted to pay after one drink.

Ok, so I’m the worst only only captured the bathroom, but I mean look at that nice detail!

Anyways, this place had been a favorite of mine for years. Great atmosphere and energy with locals and visitors. Drink rotations super fun and the service is great!

We went with a fairly large group and you ordered at the bar and the bartender was amazing and brought all the drinks to the table! Friends ordered food, shared it was tasty and came out of the kitchen fairly quick.

Didn't try any of the food but the atmosphere was perfect. Dim lighting, loved the music, unique decor and of course great drinks. Will definitely visit again!

While the drinks are good and the ambience is ok; the manager and owner there have such thin skins and keep the employees under such lock and key that effectively no one has fun. Waiters walk around like zombies. Bar tenders look at you like they want to quit. It’s no fun drinking at a place where all the people serving you hate their lives. Give it a skip.
