This place continues to please us with Great Spanish food. Not to be confused with Mexican food! Their owners and employees are all real outstanding experienced and friendly professionals. Try it!

Four of us ordered lots of tapas and one Paella Marinara. We could not finish it all! We had fried calamari, manchego flambe, potatoes with aioli, potato tortilla, mushrooms and olives, then the paella. Next time, only one potato dish and skip the mushrooms.

One of the best restaurants in the Marina. Flamenco music, paella, and relaxing vibes make this a very unique place.

Much bigger than meets the eye. The decor is cutesy.Food is pretty good. The empanadillas de carne were our favorite.

Pros: + front of house was great - flexible, accommodating and friendly + Server was very nice Cons: + Food - a lot of it was unfortunately bland and not rich in flavor. FWIW, we ordered the jamon iberico, crab cakes and pulpo (octopus), as well as asparagus spears on the server's recommendation. Probably the worst jamon iberico and pulpo I've ever had in my life. + Sangria - overly sweet (used sugar instead of fruit) and the wine tasted a bit medicinal + Limited ambiance - felt kind of empty more than anything else

Alegrias will always take the cake when it comes to the best and (coincidentally) the most authentic Spanish restaurant in San Francisco. The service is top notch, dishes are amazing like the callos (tripe), croquetas, paellas or anything you can point a finger at. The small business owners are the sweetest couple and can't wait to come back every time. From an SF native, must go!!!!

The owners were exceptionally nice. My wife and I had a great meal listening to a flamenco guitarist that was there that night . We are going back tonight. Don't miss this restaurant.

It was pricey, but I can truly say it was worth every penny. The people were kind, helpful, and friendly. The food was phenomenal. The ambience was both joyful and romantic. The only problem I had was that it was too good and too much, and we couldn't possibly eat everything we ordered!

welcome to my new obsession! i've been meaning to try Alegrias for a while and am kicking myself for not experiencing it sooner! the staff were so personable, warm & generous. Portions are way bigger than you expect at a tapas restaurant, so you will absolutely not leave hungry. If you're ordering beverages, go with the pitcher of sangria, amazing value & it's delicious! i will for sure be back soon :)

The food was excellent, and the service was gracious and attentive. I had been concerned about dining in a restaurant right on Lombard Street, but the main dining room towards the back of the space was very quiet. The restaurant levies a 20% service charge, which made splitting the bill in our group of seven much easier. (I typically leave a 20% tip anyway.) One of our party had a gluten allergy. Our waiter explained that they could make just about all their dishes gluten-free so this diner was well pleased. All around a very pleasant evening, capped with a superb flán. This is definitely a place I would visit again.

Algeria's comes through again. Started off having the crab cakes absolutely delicious. The meat empanadas are so savory. As a main I had the zarzuela, best broth I have ever had at a restaurant. The service is excellent and friendly. Can't wait for my next visit.

Since they changed owners, this place is not the same, food is not the same. I was told the cook was the same but last time I went I was very disappointed at almost every dish we ordered (including the sangria my friend ordered)

Best Spanish food I’ve eaten since I went to Spain. Paella was full of seafood, chicken, chorizo. Tapas delightful. The staff were lovely. My wife left her handbag there and it was gratefully returned.

The food is so delicious and authentic!! Like being transported back to Madrid, I can't get enough Armand and his wife have something great going on. The callos/tripe, croquettes, empanadas and paella were amazing. Go go go!!!

I've worked in the neighborhood for years and never thought of stopping in but am SO happy I finally did. The service was amazing and the paella was DELICIOUS!!! My only regret was not leaving room for dessert. I highly recommend this little gem.
