Great selection for their buffet and attentive service during our dining experience. Would absolutely recommend to friends and family and go back again.
The customer service is very poor. I called to change my reservation time and the receptionist was extremely rude. Like I’m going there to celebrate something important and this is how the staffs gonna treat us. poor customer service.

Loved the food! What an amazing upscale Indian restaurant this is.I enjoyed every bite of my food.
I updated my 5 year ago review to 1 star ⭐ because the food taste and the quality has gone down like crazy. It was such a bad food. We took pre set menu and for $85 you get very little quantity and food is cooked horrible. Samosa is like triple fried with so much oil in it. Dal and other curries are bad and you get just few piece of bread. Never coming back to Amber SF.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the Bay Area. I started going to the original one in Mountain View in the late 90's and was so happy when this one opened in SF many, many years ago. As always, the food and cocktails were exceptional as was the impeccable service and welcoming atmosphere. I'm vegetarian and my friend eats everything and we enjoyed all of our appetizers, entrees, sides and drinks. Definitely try the Bombay Confidential if you enjoy gin. They make the best saag paneer anywhere and it reminds me of my Mom and Grandmother's dish. 5 stars every time.
Amber India in San Francisco is a standout destination for those craving delicious and authentic Indian cuisine. The menu offers an impressive variety—everything from flavorful chaats and tender Chicken Tandoori to fragrant saffron rice and their standout butter chicken. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared, bursting with vibrant spices and perfectly balanced flavors. The atmosphere is classy and inviting, making it a great spot for both group gatherings and intimate dinners. With generous portions, attentive service, and consistently high-quality food, Amber India is a must-visit for anyone seeking a true taste of India in the city.

The lunch buffet spread is quite elaborate and the food was very good. Service is nice but could be more attentive. Ambience is very nice and the place has a good vibe.
Buffet food was cold and unappetizing :( We've usually enjoyed Amber India but all 4 of us left quite disappointed and unhappy this time. At this price point, our expectations are much higher. Sorry to write this review; wish it wasn't so.
Very tasty indian food. Some items on the menu are unique and different, well presented and delicious. Nice ambience. Highly recommend trying this restaurant.

The food quality has deteriorated dramatically. The curries are made with canned food and you can taste it! This used to be a place for Indian culinary experience back in the day and now unfortunately I would never return or recommend it because the quality of items on the buffet was just bad ... plus service was awful... took 30 mins to get a single naan (bread) and with two people eating they served only 1 naan cut in four pieces which off course ran out in less than 5 minutes, and then we waited another 20+ minutes for another single naan and had to ask the server repeatedly to remind them that we are waiting. The restaurant was only 1/3 way full. So this is not a busy day! I had taken a client out for lunch and left so disappointed with this experience. If you are looking for real Indian food go somewhere else!

Service is atrocious. Everyone is rude and unprofessional.
Foods mid (for lunch buffet at least)
We got a booth. And areas literally had 0 cushioning. I sat on wood. Then we mentioned it. And they literally brought out a booster seat cushion with attitude.

My coworkers and I go here every month for the lunch buffet. Very reasonable price and great service. The servers are friendly and always check up on you and refill your water and naan. The food here is very tasty and they have something different at the buffet every month. The butter chicken and goat curry is so good, I can't get enough of it. They have a variety of different foods and desserts. I always leave Happy and full after. Very tasty dishes and great service.

Favorite Indian restaurant in San Francisco. Quite expensive -- over $60 per person -- but it's worthy.

We ordered vegetarian food- great flavors. Love the Shami tikki for appetizer and raw banana and kale kofta curry.
