Loved everything about this place at first. Gotan Project sort of music, but new stuff I was interested to hear for the first time. But then it pivoted to music (and a volume) that would be incredible in a club, but not a wine bar at 9 on a Tuesday. I was really enjoying myself but this sort of intensity in music ruined the meal for me. Putting in AirPods didn’t send the message.
In fairness, I do think the host would’ve been receptive to a recommendation to adjust it. He seemed friendly. But I don’t want to have to be so direct to have to request that somebody change music that they just started playing.
Showing some restraint with BPM and volume would be beneficial. Anything above a resting heart rate (~70 BPM) or a hairdryer at close range (80 dB) will induce a cortisol response - ie stress people out. It was like double this. I think you want to create an environment where people feel at ease so it’s important to be mindful of this.

The atmosphere is truly great. It's an ideal place to start the evening or even stay all night. The music is perfect and just right for you to keep talking without shouting. The meal trays are simple, but the proportions are just right, making them perfect for filling your stomach. The servers are super friendly, they come to chat with you, and they even make you dance. Here, the people are there to put you at ease and ensure you have the best evening.

I've been to Amelie several times and always had a fantastic time! They have a vast wine selection. One of our favorite things is their happy hour wine flights, where you can customize your wine flight for $13. They also have some nice flatbread options if you're interested in a light snack while sipping some wine.

Casual wine bar. Great service and food options. If you are a wine connoisseur you might be disappointed unless you are willing to buy a bottle. Not great quality in the less than $20 glass category. Fun place! Will get loud after 5pm!
My friend and I had an incident here with an extremely rude staff & a group of customers. We truly believe it was racially motivated since we were told to “go back to our country” by the group of white customers & the rude staff not only didn’t stop them and treat us with respect but seem to be friends with the group of customers. I’d be open for a discussion to clarify the incident with the bar, but otherwise we won’t return and will happily expose the details online.

I’ve been to Amelie a few times on Polk and their sister location in NY and no matter when or where, it always feels so welcoming. They have an impressive wine list and are able to make great recommendations. The food options also pair quite well with the wines making it a very fun time all around!
