Angler is an awesome spot for seafood in SF. Everything tastes super fresh, and the flavors really pop. The oysters are especially good—some of the best I’ve had. Even the non-seafood items, like the bread with butter and the salad, are surprisingly tasty.

The dishes are creative but still let the seafood shine, which I really appreciate. Service is excellent—friendly, attentive, and never stuffy.

It’s definitely a high-end restaurant, but the vibe isn’t overly formal. You can relax, enjoy your meal, and just have a really good time. If you love seafood, this place is absolutely worth checking out.

Spent my husband's 55th birthday here and couldn't have picked a better place. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and celebrated. Every course was a work of art—thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and perfectly balanced in flavor. The pacing of the meal was flawless, giving us time to savor each dish without ever feeling rushed. The cocktails we ordered were delicious and elevated everything, and the team's knowledge and passion were truly impressive. What stood out most was the warm hospitality. The servers managed to strike that perfect Michelin balance: polished and professional, yet personal and heartfelt. They made the evening feel special in a way that goes far beyond great food. By the end of the night, we were both blown away. It was an unforgettable experience and a birthday celebration we'll be talking about for years. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining experience. Thank you Angler!!!

Really enjoyed the food and dinner experience here. The service was outstanding.

We opted for the tasting menu where the food was chosen by chef, each course arriving was a nice surprise!

The oysters were nice and fresh, the scallops were massive and tasty. The other dishes were equally tasty and well cooked.

Unsurprisingly there is a very comprehensive wine list. We had a couple of bottles of Californian white selected by the sommelier, both were really good.

Absolutely outstanding experience at Angler. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time and truly renewed my faith in hospitality. As an industry professional myself, I was blown away by the seamless service and genuine warmth from the team. An exceptional experience from start to finish, highly recommended.

We had one of our best dining experiences at The Angler. The food was so well-prepared and delicious. The staff was extremely attentive and engaging. We were very impressed by how well they worked together.

Food and service was excellent. Was a little too noisy with a weird yacht rock and 90s pop soundtrack that was a little too loud.

Overall a really lovely experience. There were some missteps we were surprised being a Michelin star'd restaurant: Didn't offer sparkling water (I had to ask to have my tap replaced), didn't offer to replace my partner's dirty napkin that was pushed aside, brought out multiple dishes while one of us was missing from the table, and lastly it took them 5 minutes to figure out which coats were ours which resulted in us missing our Waymo - the hostess didn't give us a ticket (but most Michelin restaurants I've dined at don't give a ticket they just know) and then they were very confused with how to find them ultimately having to ask us what they looked like after multiple employees inquired why we were waiting. Food was exceptional. Our server was wonderful.

Food are great we came here during lunch hour with our kids and dog. Patio was close but they accommodate us. Even brought blanket just incase we are cold. Food are great we all enjoyed it.

Wonderful experience having the chef’s choice courses here. We love every dish. My favorite is the crispy skin whole chicken, very nice! Desert is also a highlight.
Also really wide and great wine selection. You gotta take a bottle if coming here! The wine guy really know his wine - super helpful!
Only complaint is that our white wine glass is so brittle and two got shattered during our dinner here.
Another thing is the place is much noisier than most other similar restaurants.

I'll start out by saying the food was excellent, but there was one small issue, and one unfortunate deal breaker. We ordered the lunch sampler and it's a fantastic deal to try many of the most popular items. We liked the flavors and taste of everything we ate. The service was decent as well and we mostly enjoyed the experience.

The small issue was the placement of the table we were at. For some reason, the layout of the restaurant has many of the extra dishes/check processing and server related items right next to a table that they have to constantly walk/stand by. It wasn't a comfortable experience to constantly have servers come over to dig for items and such while me and my spouse were trying to talk. It has nothing to do with the staff, they are excellent, but the location of the table right up against it is poor placement. They really need to move that whole area to another part of the restaurant so it's not such a bother to those who got the unlucky table and are trying to experience the food/atmosphere. But hey, guess it was quick service since we were right there!

The deal breaker happened about 6-7 hours after we got home. I got the worst food poisoning I've ever had and threw up so much that I was dry heaving. My spouse didn't have it as bad as me, but also didn't feel well. No idea if it was the sea bream, the salad, or the oysters, but it all came out and into the toilet. As someone who works in public health, it's extremely important that any restaurant maintains as much cleanliness behind the scenes as they present in the final dish. Instead, the whole experience was tainted by this final outcome and we won't be back. I hope this review reaches those who either experienced the same recently and can either corroborate this, or those who are in charge of the cleanliness of the kitchen and can make improvements.
