Dined here on 4/18/2024 - one of the best dining experiences I've had! First of all, I love the spaciousness - each table is well positioned making it quite private for each party. The furnishings and decor are impressive and yet comforting. The food was delicious, the presentation - outstanding, and the service - excellent. We enjoyed the wine pairings very much. It was fun watching the staff in the open kitchen and I could tell they were enjoying their delicate and expert work as a team. Chef Mike was gracious in his serving of the courses and the staff were equally attentive. I loved everything about Anomaly and I would 100% come back!!

Absolutely top shelf place. 11 courses and all of them hit the spot. 8 were vegetarian but I never missed anything, all were jam-packed with umami. The wine list is top 5 in SF, lots of great older bottles. Service was flawless but unfussy and personal.

March 2024 review -Food: We had the 11 course Winter course. The dishes at Anomaly are fun, creative and light. There was a theme of contrasts in each dish - creaminess vs crunch, contrasting colors, hot vs cold, etc. While there wasn’t much meat, I think they did a fabulous job at giving your palette a lot to work with.Ambience/Service: Stellar service - we are greeted warmly by name, the servers take time to describe dishes without being rushed. The dining room is intimate and well spaced for privacy. There is a clear view of the kitchen.Verdict: I highly recommend Anomaly - it provides a Michelin-level experience at a fraction of the price.

Was a brilliant experience. Definitely do the wine pairing. Felt very mysterious and intimate. A stand out dinner for me. Service was great.

Service was good, food was mid af. I knew this place was a bust but when they served me a piece of beef made into spam, yeah bruh that was the last straw *skull emoji*

I think it really depends on what food you are into and what menu you end up getting. We came here because my foodie friend RAVED about her experience the prior month. She said Anomaly was her new standard (and way better than 7Adams). While I found the experience certainly 1 Michelin star worthy, I'm not really into vegetables so was disappointed a majority of the meal centered on beet, fennel, or similarly unappealing veggies. My friend was a bit disappointed too as the prior menu was apparently a lot better. We did get to chat with the chef though and he's an incredibly nice and hardworking guy. I know it will get there! Looking forward to the next menu!

Disappointing. Easily by far the most disappointing fine dining experience I've ever had, especially given the aggregated review score. I've received the worst service I've ever gotten at the $100+ price point and there was nothing new with any of the courses despite their claim to fame for "Anomaly". The reservation was under the name "Sofia Ip".Menu:None of the courses were anything I haven't already tasted elsewhere. This place is a perfect example of Pete Wells' "global fine dining" remark, where almost every fine dining restaurant's menu is hardly distinguishable from each other's. Over-reliance on French/Japanese cuisines and exact same textures/ingredients everybody else uses. The main course's sauce on the steak was straight up bland, and the last dessert (cake, jelly, chocolate) literally all tasted like snacks I could buy prepackaged from a convenience store.I really only liked the pate and main dessert (chocolate custard) but even those two were nothing I haven't already tasted multiple times elsewhere.Service:Nobody asked me if I wanted to buy any of the additional supplements, nobody explained any of them to me, and nobody asked me if I had wanted to buy any drinks. Complete lack of initiative all-around.The chefs when introducing the dishes also omitted a lot of details to us. I overheard other tables getting the typical elaborate metaphors of the dish, a story about the origin or the inspiration for the dish but we got absolutely none of that.My friend was dressed pretty casually and I dressed visibly queer (drop shoulder rock band t-shirt revealing my bird tattoo under my collarbone, baggy jeans, sneakers with a carabiner, chunky necklaces with a transgender symbol, and painted nails) so that was almost certainly the reason for said terrible service.Maybe they thought their stories would be too over our heads and something we wouldn't comprehend? Maybe they thought we couldn't afford the supplements? Who knows. I wasn't surprised but it was incredibly laughable and pitiful how predictable the bigotry and their attempted classism was.Drinks:I didn't buy anything, selection was just your typical wine list and some sake. I get that the sommelier's job is to be the wine guy and it's the industry standard but again, given their emphasis on "anomaly", I was really hoping they would have pairings that weren't wine and had more varied alcohols. Once you've tried enough wine, you've really tried them all. No idea why a place called "Anomaly SF" is staying within the confines of French/Japanese traditions so tightly. This was my first foray back into the fine dining scene since 2021 after I got a little tired of it and Anomaly SF's re-introduction was genuinely worse than I could've ever imagined. Never have I ever been to a restaurant with reviews like theirs and everything was so incredibly lacklustre. The irony the restaurant is named Anomaly is a little too much tbh2 stars and not 1 because the food was cooked well and the steak wasn't well done or blue so it technically all could've been way worse.

WOW!!! The food, the service, the setting were all mind blowing. I had heard great reveries from a few friends and went with high expectations. Chef Michael and the team outdid all. I hope to go back many many times when in the future.

Great experience of casual fine dining. The vegetarian tasting menu was thoughtful, imaginative, and well balanced. Nice pairing with a set of wines, cider, and sparkling wine.

Super impressed by Anomaly and think overall they are now one of my tops picks for best restaurant in SF, especially when considering quality, amount, and value of food holistically. The tasting menu came out to about $180 with gratuity included, which honestly felt like such a steal for what we got. The winter tasting menu featured a lot of fennel, and they did a great job weaving it into every dish. I pretty much enjoyed every single thing in the menu, which is rare. Flavors were unique and well balanced, and pacing of the meal was super great. We were so full by the end of the meal, which is a good feeling to have given I've definitely walked out still hungry at a few fine dining/Michelin experiences in SF. Overall will plan on returning when they switch to a new summer menu given how much I enjoyed the meal.
