We celebrated a friend's Birthday here recently and were happy about everything. We were able to actually have a conversation because it wasn't noisy inside. The food is delicious and the staff took time to answer questions about the menu and made some excellent recommendations. It's also easy to take public transportation since the church street station is close by.

Atmosphere is traditional conventional French bistro (which I do appreciate). Wine bottles on one wall. Printed menu but worthwhile additions on blackboard brought to table. Relatively quiet on a Saturday night. Wine selection nice enough, although personally I always like to see more California wines (i know - it's a French restaurant!). Wine prices were reasonable. Food is a mixture of entrees and shared plates and nice appetizers. You can make these up to suit almost any...

Our lunch at Aquitane was delicious and our waiter was friendly and attentive. We shared the dishes we ordered: fried cauliflower, roasted fig salad, crab stuffed mushrooms, braised eggplant, and cassoulet. Everything was fresh, flavorful and perfectly prepared.
