Extremely loud.. dont go there to have a conversation.. impossible to hear one another. Service: very friendly Food.. pizza was so chewy and soft.. great apple tart.. the restaurant was really cold.. most customers were wearing coats.. disappointing experience..

Locale accogliente ma nel menu pochi piatti cge si possono chiamare italiani. La pizza margherita era buona. Portatevi un maglione se fuori fa freddo perché lasciano 2 finestre aperte e anche se gli è stato chiesto non le possono chiudere. Servizio nella norma.

We love Back to Back as one of our Neighborhood Favorites. Great salads, awesome pizza and love the atmosphere. The new chef is rocking it and that apple galette with ice cream is the bomb. We adore Hannah the server extraordinaire who takes care of us with warmth and skill and patience. Go to this place for a fun and casual evening with really good food!

Brussels sprouts and endive salad were delicious! Underwhelmed by the shroom pizza, a little too soft and thin in middle for my liking and we needed to add salt! Service was lovely but it was so loud we put in headphones to enjoy our meal! Likely not back due to how loud it is.

Back to Back definitely has some of the best (probably top 5) wood-fired pizzas in San Francisco. Perfect date or double date spot. Great cocktails, even better food, perfect vibes.

Was removed from table because of an unadvertised 1 1/2 hour sitting limit. Plates were never cleared nor was this done at the expiration... service contributed to accumulating the unannounced limit, as drinks and food delivery was slow. I think we were clocked as an overstay by 15 minutes, at which point we had been sitting at the table plates uncleared waiting for the check to arrive.

The wait staff was friendly and we enjoyed the food, but the space has very high ceilings so it's noisy from the patrons, and for some reason they were playing some movie in another part of the restaurant. My friend and I had to shout over all of this. So, go early to avoid the crowd

The eclectic and short menu allows them to focus on the things they're good at. Nothing (except the desserts) disappointed. Very good salads and starters. Smashburger and fries were excellent and the pizzas top notch (though they could use a geometry lesson - very unevenly sliced). Cocktails very good too (and well priced for this City). Some in our party complained that even though the “beet salad” and “burnt leek pizza” were very good, neither of the featured ingredients (beets and burnt leeks respectively) were nearly as prominent as the names of the dishes would suggest. They were more like garnishes than features. Desserts (especially the donuts) were just so-so and not nearly the value of the rest of the menu.

Dinner was absolutely delicious but the noise level was the worst we've experienced in San Francisco, totally deafening. The wall of sad, dying plants did little to uplift the evening. We got in and out in less than an hour to save our eardrums. Maybe they have take out? We loved the cooking.
