I brought a friend here for her birthday. I thought it would be a lot better. Service was OK not great, took a long time to get our drinks. I had a 11am reservation and had to wait for them to clean and set a table, not very professional if you ask.
Now the food was pretty good, though my friends sausage was cold, but didn't want to complain about it. I may go back and try something else.

Beach Chalet – Ocean Views, Local Vibes, and Elevated Dining
Perched right on Ocean Beach, the Beach Chalet is a San Francisco gem that combines sweeping ocean views with an upscale yet welcoming atmosphere. The expansive windows offer a front-row seat to the Pacific—whether you’re enjoying a sunny lunch or settling in to watch a breathtaking sunset, it’s a view that never gets old.
This multi-level spot offers a little something for everyone: a high-end restaurant with an excellent seasonal menu, friendly and attentive staff, and a more relaxed bar area that often features live music in the evenings. It’s romantic enough for a special date night, yet casual enough to be a favorite local hangout.
Located at the western edge of Golden Gate Park, the Beach Chalet is just minutes from the SF Zoo and the historic Sutro Baths, making it a perfect stop on a day of exploring the city’s west side.
Whether you’re in the mood for a glass of wine at sunset, a cozy dinner with an ocean view, or simply want to experience a piece of San Francisco charm, the Beach Chalet never disappoints.

We have reservation for 6pm for dinner, decided to arrive by 5:15pm to enjoy their Happy Hours downstairs @ Park Chalet, upon entering by 5:20pm, hostess informed us they are closing early can not serve us while the sign clearly stated Open until 6 pm? So we went upstairs to Beach Chalet greeted by another hostess and she was very friendly & seated us by the bar area and told us we can enjoy the Happy Hours there and will move us to our dining table when is ready at 6pm.
Then comes 6pm, our dinner server Lia came informed us our table is ready & offer to bring our drinks & appetizers to our dining table.
Here’s how thing started to turn upside down, the waiter that took our Happy Hours order rushed over to our dining table and start shouting we can not finish our Happy Hours items at our dining table which is their policy, our server Lia immediately consulted with her supervisor came back told us is okay with a friendly smile.
If it wasn’t Lia stepping in to save the day, this could be our last time coming to Beach Chalet.
Later we found out it was Lia’s first day working as a Server, she used to work as a Bartender.
We all told her she was doing an excellent job, is all about her attitude towards customers, she was friendly, courtesy and professional with a beautiful smile.
The food is always good at Beach Chalet, just hope the rest of the wait staff can learn a thing or 2 from Lia, then this should become everyone’s regular spot. After all, good food with poor service is just not good enough for us anymore, since we have owned & operated our restaurants from 1980 to 2023. Since retiring, we truly missed all the regular customers that were with us all those years.

Great views, impecable service, delicious food and reasonable prices. Fun brunch options, including mimosas, if that is your thing. Healthy salads, decadent desserts. I don't normally comment on plating, but it was so artfully done that I would be remiss not to note it. This place really has it all.

The beach chalet is beautiful place order a hamburger order some french fries order a great drink, but don’t order the food. My friend ordered the salmon came on this blue sweet mash of. We’re not really sure but the color was so disturbing and then the fish was put on top of the mash and then on top of the fish was a corn and it was teriyaki salmon. We couldn’t figure it out. It was horrible. It didn’t taste good. The salmon wasn’t fresh. It was $30. It was ridiculous. The cheeseburgers are fine. French fries are fine, but I wouldn’t go beyond that. Its beautiful service is amazing. Drinks are great . It’s beautiful service is amazing. Drinks are great food horrible used to go there all the time but never go back.

The Beach Chalet is a two-story Spanish Colonial Revival building that houses two restaurants and amazing art. My favorite art piece was “San Francisco Life” by Labaudt - who also painted the Coit Tower murals. The upstairs dining had a wonderful view of the dunes and sometimes I am told it has live music. Helpful Hint: My husband and I shared a number of starters and considered it our “happy meal.” It did not hurt that we paired the starters with champagne. Take a walk around the park or along the shore to burn-off some carbs after your meal.
