Bella
The fact that we’ve been going there for 20 years, should say it all
I love that there are three restaurants connected together
Bella Trattoria (formal dining room) Osteria Bella (casual dinning room with bar) Salumeria Di Bella (daytime deli/wine bar). I mean they have it all. Date night with the husband, ladies night with some drinks, an afternoon Panini with a glass of wine, maybe some ice cream. 😉 I find the wait staff to be fun, yet knowledgeable about wines and the menu. Now let’s talk about food. From the homemade bread that just arrives at your table with sun-dried tomato dipping sauce to the delicious desserts best Panna cotta…and tiramisu your mouth will thank you. I so far have not had anything there I didn’t like. I try to taste everybody’s dishes when I go If it’s a dish I haven’t tried yet. Although I am a creature of habit and I order the same five dishes off the menu all the time, but there’s so many to choose from.
it’s quite a large menu, which is great because it can accommodate all my vegetarian, meat eater, nut allergy and gluten-free friends. The cocktails are wonderful. The bartender makes one of my favorite amaretto sours in the city. The Wine list is amazing, it’s hard to choose, I usually let them make the choices to taste for me. If you haven’t gone, go try it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Pasta is good so is their base red sauce. Dining room tables are too small for 2 guests.
Their complimentary Italian bread could use an upgrade; feels and tastes like Wonder bread. Have to echo the other guest’s complaint about their chef refusing to prepare an entree in olive oil. You’re an Italian restaurant, c’mon people!
Service was very good.

The chefs are very petty. Asked to cook food in olive oil, and the reply was we cannot afford to use olive oil.

Our food was excellent. We visited at lunch and left the ordering to our son who eats here frequently. Love the atmosphere, service was very good. We have decided to have his rehearsal dinner here late March.

Wonderful food with great service! The shirt steak melted in my mouth & was perfectly seasoned!
It was a very good recommended , I feel it was overrated and the price is not expensive , but for the quality of food they serve, it is high.

Amazing food - amazing service!!!!! Repeat customer! We visit every time we are in San Francisco
Fantastic handmade pasta dishes. Generous antipasto plate and grilled artichokes. Incredible polenta with gorgonzola & fungi. Perfectly cooked fish. Delicious wines and cocktails. Personable and helpful service. Kitchen timing needed improvement. Bathrooms very dirty with unflushed toilets. Desserts meh.
Five of us dined here tonight and I can barely say one good thing about the food . Two of us ordered the spaghetti with clams - and the two dishes that came out looked very different. My pasta was brown while the other was white, and mine had salt and anchovy paste absolutely overpowering the dish. I am not one to send food back but when I mentioned it to the server he immediately saw the difference and he offered to bring me something else. My replacement dish was a garlic spaghetti that tasted good but had a very large chunk of uncooked pasta all stuck together. My husband had the Amatriciana - the pasta was so undercooked it stuck in your teeth. Gnocchi was boring. My teen son loved his chicken cutlet but by the end it was so salty he couldn't eat any more. We are big fans of salt by the way, but every dish was crazy salty. They brought us a free pana cotta at the end of the night and even that was strangely firm and rubbery. Our server was good, very friendly, and helpful, but it just didn't make up for the food. I've been here several times over the years and always thought of Bella as having high quality food. I don't know what is happening in that kitchen these days but it's a bummer. I won't be back.
Food was lukewarm and so so. Generally uninteresting and seemed like from store bought jars. Disappointing
Amazing atmosphere food and not bad parking! Gnocchi is awesome!!
