Once the owner leaves, a pleasant space ... book offerings a huge plus to stay and patronize ... note to owner from successful entrepreneur > stay away, trust your staff, count your money ... bye bye

This little coffee shop–bookstore next to Whole Foods on 24th in Noe Valley is such a local treasure. It’s small, cozy, and full of character — the kind of place that instantly feels like home. There’s no menu, which I actually love, because the barista can make anything you ask for — and somehow, it always comes out perfect.

It’s the kind of spot where you can sip a beautifully made latte while flipping through a good book and watching the neighborhood go by. Lots of locals stop in, which gives it a warm, familiar vibe. If you’re looking for an unpretentious, quietly magical place to slow down and savor the moment — this is it. ☕📚✨

Good vibes in a cool location. I really wanted to like it, but unfortunately, the espresso drinks are mediocre without the price to match. I ordered a latte, it was pretty watered down/under extracted and the steamed milk texture was off (too much big bubbles, not enough micro-foam). This place has a lot of potential to be great: I recommend to the owners that the espresso setup be tuned and the baristas be trained by a professional. For now recommend skipping it if just looking for a proper latte.

Adorable and cozy neighborhood cafe with ample seating, relaxed vibes, and a super friendly staff! I dropped by Bernie’s on a Sunday morning to fuel up on caffeine before heading to Twin Peaks, and it was the perfect pit stop. I was greeted by beautiful and luscious plants, super upbeat and relaxing music, and the very friendly and cheerful owner. I just grabbed an americano before continuing on, but I’d love to come back and settle in for a bit. The space is lovely, and they have a ton of used books for sale from The Annex, so it’s a great place to hang out to read or work. The coffee was tasty and not too acidic.

Not surprised to see the high ratings! The staff is SO warm and welcoming, and the low sweetness of the iced pumpkin latte (low sweet upon REQUEST) was perfect. 10/10!

Love, love, love! This is the epitome of an amazing, down-to-earth neighborhood coffee shop. I’d recommend walking the extra block down past Martha’s to give Bernie’s a try and get yourself an iced latte, breakfast burrito, and a little sweet treat. You deserve it.

If you don't make a trip to Bernie's in Noe Valley in San Francisco, you are truly missing out! Great, cozy spot to sit and sip on your delicious, hand crafted espresso beverage or coffee, or try the hibiscus something something iced tea, it is absolutely to die for. Bernie’s Coffee Shop is an absolute gem, and Bernie herself is the heart and soul of it all! Her love for the community and passion for coffee radiate in everything she does. From the moment you walk in, she has a way of making everyone’s day brighter with her warm smile and genuine care.

Bernie goes above and beyond to make every customer feel loved and welcome. Whether it’s remembering your favorite drink or offering a kind word when you need it most, her thoughtfulness makes her shop feel like home.

The coffee is phenomenal—crafted with so much passion and expertise—but it’s Bernie’s incredible energy and commitment to her community that make this place truly special. If you’re looking for great coffee and an even better experience, Bernie’s is the spot!

Their drip coffee always hits the spot. Better than most places I've tried in SF. Highly recommend.

They don’t know how to make espresso, and are very stuck up!

Got the green chili burrito and a ham and cheese croissant. Both were hot and delicious. The iced latte was great too. Friendly baristas behind the counter and the occasional random dog visit from outside. Can’t ask for more!

Yum Yum!
I’ve been a fan ever since I could remember!
Bernie is great!
The coffee is always delicious!
The previous review is just stupid and pathetic. This is post-COVID with the cost of living sky rocketing.
Get coffee at Bernie’s and thank me later!
