I just found out Bistro SF has closed permanently, and it is a heavy blow to my soul. We came here a few times before the pandemic, and many many a time during the pandemic (we live just a few blocks away). Yummiest food and nicest people. I was looking forward to the day when they'd be able to reopen like in the pre-pandemic days with live music, great Euro-vibe, and all. Thanks Bistro SF for being part of the Noe Valley community, we'll miss you terribly.

We had such a lovely dinner here this evening. We split the vegan mushroom risotto and the Adriatic plate. I got a glass of red wine from Croatia and my boyfriend got a Chardonnay from Argentina. Everything was absolutely delicious and came out very quickly. We'll absolutely be back again. The restaurant is half market, half restaurant with refrigerators of pre portioned sides and meals (we got the paella to have for lunch tomorrow) and shelves of jarred spices, pickled snacks and a broad variety of wine from all over the world. The indoor seating is pretty compact, definitely call ahead for a party over 2 people or order to go (they price meals a few dollars cheaper if you're ordering take out).Great Mediterranean/Balkan food. Definitely check it out!

As a Noe Valley resident, this place is my ole' reliable. :) I wish I could give them 10 stars! The staff/owners are SO friendly and most importantly, the food is amazing. When it was only a restaurant, my fiance and I loved eating there and listening to live music. I have *loved* that they've converted into a grocery store - I am there pretty much everyday for their hummus, dolmas, wine, produce, and the spices. Their hummus is the number one thing I always need in my fridge. :) They also have delicious pesto, a great kale salad, and my fiance is obsessed with their tuna salad. I am so, so happy they have stuck it through this insane year! They have kept me very full and happy :)

While I have never been here physically, I did order delivery. Truly a nice break from traditional fare. The cuisine, while rooted in Californian style, has a Balkan spin with just enough flair to give you a well deserved foreign vacation. The Dolmas bring a fresh take on the traditional recipe, the grilled trout (the whole fish sans head and tail) with Balkan potato salad paired unusually well, and the Greek-style arugula salad with a hefty amount of feta was crisp and fresh. Perhaps more amazing is that the prices are incredibly low for what you get. If you are looking for an exotic yet affordable culinary experience, Bistro SF Grill will surely provide it.

I'm sorry but the food was horrible.. I'm not too picky with my food but If I'm going to spend $117 on a steak and 2 burgers I expect it to be somewhat edible.. burger was dry and not cooked to what I requested which was medium well, the bun was burn and the fries had a seafood taste (I'm allergic to seafood) the steak was dry and the sprouts burn.. 1 star for fast delivery 0 star for quality

So much delicious food, both freshly cooked, prepared dishes and wonderful groceries, including locally canned. A favorite!

Hasim has been quite diligent in his protocols when it comes to safety during a pandemic. I've always loved the food at Bistro, I've been eating here since before they were at the current location. Likewise, I used to play music with Hasim's son. Lovely place to enjoy a burger and a beer, and a fabulous place to go for a bite during this unprecedented time we're living through.

My favorite restaurant has become my favorite grocer. The neighborhood is so lucky to have this unique gem. Its latest incarnation has allowed me to enjoy the varied yet consistently delicious offerings of the Bistro in the comforts of my SIP home. Their vegan options are fantastic - mushroom risotto, apple and cranberry salad with lime dressing or garbanzo sweet potato curry over brown rice ... all paired with incredible Balkan wines priced well below what I ever expected to pay. And there's beer, too. Nothing beats a pilsner with chips and Bistro's spicy black bean dip. I'm addicted. Whether I need a grab-and-go treat or a full meal at an affordable price, I know Bistro's got me covered seven days a week.

Since COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020, it's no longer a bistro, but more of a bodega + deli. Unable to operate as a restaurant, they pivoted to selling quality food - some basic staples such as organic milk, cream, cheese, yogurt, pasta, cookies, fruit and wine. They still have a goulash to die for to go, plus lots of yummy housemate sauces and dips. It's a great addition to the neighborhood and they seem to be thriving with the new model. That said, I'll welcome the return of a great little Eastern European restaurant and live music of/when it comes...

Bistro SF now has a take-out menu of both hot and cold items. No indoor restaurant service yet, but they have also curated a great little grocery store with high quality deli foods, fruits and veggies, shelf staples, plus an interesting selection of beer, wine and other beverages. They keep occupancy low, but there's usually no line to enter. They move people through the store from the door, past refrigerated cases and shelves, to the check out counter then out again. Highly recommended!
