I am not the biggest fan of boba, and it's not my go to treat, however, the caramel vanilla boba option we had at a large corporate event caught my eye and I ended up trying one. To my delight, this was so delicious, just a perfect amount of sweetness. I really can't get used to the tapioca pieace in boba, but I was able to enjoy a few, and really just drank the milk tea. It was the perfect afternoon pick me up.

I was able to enjoy Black Sugar during a work event that they catered. Admittedly I wasn't sure how things with go with a large group and an even larger number of boba teas premade for us, but it was awesome! They had all of the flavors easily identifiable and grouped together so it was easy to snag the one you wanted. They had several flavors, including alternative milks for each, which was a nice touch for those staying away from lactose/dairy. When enjoying boba I'm a bit of a creature of habit and I'm typically reaching for the brown sugar (or in this case black sugar) milk tea or just the regular black milk tea. Had the black sugar tea here and it was excellent. A bit sweet at first sip but once mixing things up so the syrup on the bottom was easily distributed and we were good to go!

Been a fan of Black Sugar for quite a while and was sad when they closed down for a while. First time trying them again since they reopened. Had the opportunity of experience them as a catering. Pear green tea - a classic for me and a drink I always gravitate towards. Great pear taste without being overly sweet. Even as a cater delivery, the boba still had chew and toothsomeness to it. A perfectly balanced fruit green tea.

My Manga Matcha Latte came out looking like an artwork! The matcha was strong and flavorful; I wish there was more of it -- it only took up a quarter of the cup. The oat milk was oddly thick and creamy; I didn't mind it, but it also didn't taste much like oat milk and rather tasted more reminiscent of whole milk. The Mango was the star of the drink! Soo refreshing and made with real fruit! The boba texture was also scrumptious -- not mushy or soft with a good amount of bite. I'm glad I ordered 25% sweet because it was already tasting pretty sweet like how 50% would normally taste. With the add-ons of boba and oat milk, my drink came out to over $8 -- I probably won't get it again for a long time, but in the moment, it felt somewhat worth it for such a unique drink with fresh fruit and premium grade matcha. My friend who got the Hong Kong Milk Tea didn't particularly like it, and same with my other one who got the Hochicha Latte. They both ordered less sweet but thought their drinks were too sweet. From the reviews, it sounds like Black Sugar's strengths are their fruit drinks. I highly recommend checking them out for those! There was no wait at all on Saturday around 3pm, and our drinks were ready within about 5 minutes. No seating -- grab and go style.

Decent but I probably wouldn't come back. It doesn't really taste memorable and there's no parking

One of my favorite boba places, super out of the way but I almost always stop by here if I'm in the area. Only downside IMO is how they only have one size, and it's on the smaller side. However, the drinks that I've tried here are one of the best I've had. I do think their milk teas and matcha are better than their fruit teas. The boba balls are similar to those from boba guys, on the chewier side which I prefer. At nearly $6 a cup or more with the smaller size, the price is definitely on the steeper side but the drinks are always a hit!

Small shop where you order through a kiosk. Got the jasmine milk tea with boba. The milk tea had a good balance of the milk and the tea. I just wish the tea was a tad stronger. Other than that, it was perfectly sweet at 75% sugar. The boba was sweet and had a good chewy consistency. I wish the portion was bigger for the price ($6.50 for my drink).

I got the pear tea 75% sweetness, less ice :) I usually go for milk teas but I was curious about the pear tea since it seems popular! No regrets--I inhaled this fruit tea bc it was the perfect amount of sweetness & was refreshing:) the boba itself was the BEST I've had so far in the Bay Area (or tied to SunRight tea imo) very chewy & sweet The store is small and has a place to wait inside. Even though we went mid-day during the week there were a few customers waiting for their drinks outside the store! The staff was super nice (I think he was the only one working) and was able to make all of our drinks pretty fast. Price range is around $6 or $6.50 for each boba. But that might be for the fruit teas & the Hong Kong milk tea my friend got. Some drinks already include boba in the price:) I will definitely be back!

Really good bubble tea. Super fresh boba.

The shop is clean and service was quick. The drink was average, not very flavorful and the boba didn't taste fresh. It's a reasonable option if you're in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to try it.

There is no shortage of bubble tea in the Bay, so competition is fierce! Black Sugar's novelty is their "fresh milk" selection, which, as far as I can tell, just means really light, airy milk. I tried their traditional "Black Sugar Fresh Milk" tea, and it was delicious. It has a maple-like flavor that complements the tea and the boba nicely. I liked that boba was included in the $5.50 price (most shops charge you +$1-$2 extra), though I would have appreciated the option for a larger size. They only offer a 16-oz. I also think the tea could have been a touch stronger. This is not a "go out of your way for it" place, but if you're in the area, definitely worth checking out!

My favorite boba place in the world (and I've been to hundreds in many countries) - get the pear or lychee green tea!

Ordered through door dash and the delivery was actually faster than expected for the distance. The hojicha latte (seasonal) is pretty good. Nice roasty tea flavor and boba has a good chewy consistency. It's one of the rare good hojicha milk teas in SF, but too bad it's seasonal only. Price is relatively high, but the drink warrants a return visit

I love this boba place and I'm so glad they reopened! I got the Hong Kong milk tea and I really liked the flavor of the tea and boba. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and the boba was chewy. The shop is a little small and they didn't have much seating, so it's more of a to-go place. I would definitely come back!

Looked better than it tasted. The black sesame matcha was ok and their matcha has a more bitter taste. I think I would have enjoyed it less if I got my usual 0% sweetness but I randomly decided to get 25% and it was still pretty sweet. The Hong Kong milk tea is ok. Definitely too sweet for 75% sweetness so I think getting drinks starting at 50% and working your way down depending on how you like it is the best way to go.
