My husband and I met at Blackthorn at Blackthorn 8 years ago. I've had many happy memories including new years, world cups, and other great moments in my life. It would be detrimental to the SF community if this bar closed, and I WILL NOT come back if a new bar opens. McGrath, do the right thing and let Blackthorn have that space!!!!

Truly my favorite bar! The kindest bar tenders I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know! A wonderful backyard space and front parklet! This place is always a go to for my friends and I.It would be such a shame to see Blackthorn go. I hope the community can come together to save this sunset staple!

Great cocktail bar with outdoor seating, billiards, and plenty of TVs. Fresher vibe than some of the other pubs on the block. The bar service was super friendly and churned out delicious cocktails. I'd recommend the "Sunset in Lagos" cocktail, which was a gin-based drink with a few bells and whistles-- super tasty. Also, this place has a perfect (heated) outdoors space in the back for hanging out with friends or watching the game. Definitely a great little spot in The Sunset for grabbing drinks with friends or watching the game!

Let me start off by saying Im new to San Francisco. I have come to this bar a couple of times and have always had a great experience, except for this past Friday night it was an absolute shit show, the owner/manager got completely hammered behind the bar and got into a fight with some dude for not making his drink properly! I watched whole ordeal while I was sitting in the corner drinking my beer. Not only did he get into a fight but he sat there and yelled at customers AND the two other female bartenders behind the bar. And I mean completely degraded them. It was so unprofessional. I'm surprised this person is management. Talking to employees like that is practically workplace abuse. I'm disgusted this is 2023, dude. Get off your high horse, get sober, and stop abusing your employees.

Great spot and amazing cocktails for this small neighborhood spot with great music, excellent vibes and super cool staff!!! A bit pricey but definitely recommended

The Blackthorne is clean and decent and dog friendly because they have a patio in the backyard. My only issue is they are breed selective and bully breeds are not welcome even if they are on their best behavior while Chihuahuas with attitudes are totally fine. Otherwise a totally solid bar. All of the drinks that you could want at reasonable prices, and all of the sports games on all of the TVs. I also managed to take some cool pictures of the tables and turn them in the artwork so that's a bonus lol. I will always go back and if they didn't have issues with certain breeds of dogs, they would have five stars from me. If you have an evil Chihuahua, I'm sure you would be happy to give it five stars!
