Having dined at this restaurant several times in the past I was shocked at the changes in the food quality. I ordered the Cioppino. For almost $40 price tag there were about 5 small shrimp, 1 overcookws crab leg, 3 mussells and 2 clams. It was pathetic to say the least. Others dining with me ordered similar with the same comment. I can say the sauce it was cooked in was good. Several of our group ordered single crab and it was all overcooked. The mussells, calamari, and oyster appetizers were good. The clam chowder was luke warm. For this caliber of restaurant, especially with an over $900 check, it should have represented itself much better. Definitely would not go back or recommend it.

Great views and overall experience. Like everything in San Francisco, expensive. Food was tasty and portions as expected. Worth a visit when here on vacation but nothing I'll rave over.

I have been coming here for decades, and the restaurant (like most of San Francisco) is in decline. Normally it is quite busy and lively, but this night it was muted. The service was stellar as usual, but the quality of food was mixed, and the neighborhood was deserted save homeless campers. This is not a reflection strictly on The Franciscan, this is a trend across the city and the Bay Area in general. Still awesome views of the bay.

Disappointed in the food. A steak was tough, the salmon “grilled with herbs” was greasy and we never did see any herbs... Great looking restaurant, shame the wasn't better

The lights were too bright. They dimmed them a little when we asked, but turned them back up a bit later.

We have been eating at the Franciscan for over 10 years, and the quality of the food has stayed consistent. We highly recommend the Franciscan to anyone looking for quality seafood and very comfortable surroundings.

My husband and I went for the first time since covid. It was wonderful to see a lot of the same employees food was still fabulous I don't remember being charged for bread pre covid but we had to ask for bread this time and I noticed we were charged for it , I don't mind being charged for it but at least give me warm bread not stale that I s my only complaint. Other than that my waiter was fabulous the food other than the bread was fabulous and the drinks were ok. Happy 32nd anniversary to my love and Franciscan see you again next year

We made a reservation for 12 noon, their 1st seating on a Friday during Fleet Week. We were the 4th group who got seated. However our server was more interested in taking pictures of the ships and the view from their restaurant deck, he didn't come by to take our order for quite a while. We noticed all the table around us who were seated after us got their food. We asked another server to on our order, then our food came right away. However, Our burger came cold and well-done even though we ordered medium-rare. We sent the burger back. 2nd time around, burger still came well-done, we sent it back again. Only 3rd time the burger came medium-rare, and very good. The crab Louie salad was good. The 2 Crab pastas were very tasty. We would not recommend this place for service, only for it's view and location.

Our waiter was marvelous, the view of the bay even from the third row of tables was enjoyable, and the food was very tasty. Overall a satisfying experience.

Delicious dinners and outstanding service. Love all the photos of the famous visitors too. Loved sitting to see the view of the bay. Wonderful experience!

Trop cher pour la qualité....et le service n'est pas à la hauteur. Nous avions une réservation pour 20 heures....et comme ce restaurant ferme à 20 h il fallait certainement faire vite.... tant pis nous n'y retournerons pas
