I have been coming here for decades, and the restaurant (like most of San Francisco) is in decline. Normally it is quite busy and lively, but this night it was muted. The service was stellar as usual, but the quality of food was mixed, and the neighborhood was deserted save homeless campers. This is not a reflection strictly on The Franciscan, this is a trend across the city and the Bay Area in general. Still awesome views of the bay.
We have been eating at the Franciscan for over 10 years, and the quality of the food has stayed consistent. We highly recommend the Franciscan to anyone looking for quality seafood and very comfortable surroundings.
My husband and I went for the first time since covid. It was wonderful to see a lot of the same employees food was still fabulous I don't remember being charged for bread pre covid but we had to ask for bread this time and I noticed we were charged for it , I don't mind being charged for it but at least give me warm bread not stale that I s my only complaint. Other than that my waiter was fabulous the food other than the bread was fabulous and the drinks were ok. Happy...
