My favorite place. I come every year on my birthday. The waitress even remembered me. Good food, great view, fun area, what more can you want.
Service. Was great. Our waiter was attentive and provided great service. The salmon sandwich was ok and the clams were a bit too salty. The calamari and the Crab Louis salad was wonderful. We also had the Sourdough Beignet and the Fresh Berries with Creme Anglaise was very good.
All the seafood I ate here was amazing, really fresh and tasty, I can only recommend. Service was great too. We returned another day as well, it was so good.

There’s no better way to spend your arvo lunch at Boudin, a local classic. Had the clam chowder on the sourdough bowl and the experience still mesmerises my first visit to SF. Will be definitely visiting next time and try other bakery delicacies .

We visited the place on Sunday during New years Holiday season. The restaurant was very crowded. We had ordered one vegetarian sandwich and mac and cheese pasta. Both were very delicious. It is a must visit place. They are mainly known for the soups and sourdough bread.

We enjoyed our food and were happy to be seated with a view of the water. The food was delicious. I was sad that they couldn't take crab out of the mac and cheese (I'm vegetarian), but the pizza I ate was great! My niece had french onion soup which she said was delicious. All around a wonderful place and I would definitely come back.
Tomato soup was great

Visiting first time in the Saturday morning.
The person (he) who in charge in front need to improve customer service and show respect in how he speaks and responds to customers. Shouting at customers or giving instructions in a harsh tone (for example, telling them to put rubbish in the bin) is not acceptable. He should speak calmly and politely, and ask customers respectfully.

The crab cheddar soup is good, but the crab is not outstanding in the soup. The quantity of soup is not enough for whole bread.

Had a great time and service was quick. We tried the clam chowder bowls and oatmeal raisin cookie. They were all delicious.

A tourist trap with fast-food quality and worse execution.
Boudin was genuinely one of the worst breakfast experiences I’ve had in recent memory. This is not a restaurant. It is a fast-food outlet masquerading as a San Francisco institution, and even by fast-food standards, it performs poorly.
The breakfast was complete and utter rubbish. Food was assembled with zero heart, zero pride, and zero care. Nothing tasted fresh, thoughtful, or even competently prepared. To be blunt, McDonald’s would have delivered a better breakfast, faster, hotter, and with more consistency.
The entire operation feels like a high-volume tourist conveyor belt, optimized purely for throughput. There is no hospitality, no warmth, and no sense that anyone involved actually cares about the product. This is what happens when a brand trades entirely on legacy and foot traffic rather than quality.
The coffee situation, powered by Peet’s, was particularly painful to watch. Despite using two top-of-the-line Eversys super-automatic machines, the operation was clearly an operational nightmare. This was not coffee service; it was damage control. These were not baristas, just staff frantically pushing out cups to cope with overwhelming volume. Speed over quality, every single time.
Service overall was poor, rushed, and impersonal. You are not a guest here; you are a transaction.
The only saving grace was the one hour of free parking. Beyond that, parking in the area is mind-blowingly expensive, which only adds insult to injury given the quality of the food and experience.
Boudin is a textbook tourist trap. If you care about food, coffee, or even basic breakfast competence, do yourself a favor and eat literally anywhere else. San Francisco deserves better than this, and first-time visitors especially deserve not to have their impression of the city start here.

Despite having a reservation, we waited the same 25min to be seated, as someone in front of us who didn't have one. They were out of Pizzas at 7pm, and the rest of the food was good, but nothing special. Service was great.
We had the crab melt sandwich and sourdough clam chowder bowl. Both wonderful. And worth the wait Suggesting finding a table while you wait. The lines in the café appear long though move very fast
