The food is excellent, the service is highly attentive and kind (thank you, Alvaro), and the atmosphere is hard to beat, especially during the holidays. We will be back.

We were here to celebrate the 36th anniversary of our wedding. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holidays. We were seated in a very nice spot in the dining room. We had fun switching positions halfway through the dinner to see the amazing view of the bridge. We had the shrimp in risotto, scallops, lamb and fillet. Everything was very tasty although our main courses were not served hot. If that is not a priority Bob’s your uncle. The woman at the front who greeted us was less than friendly. Maybe she was having a bad night. Our waiter seemed somewhat into being there with us. I would suggest people come for the food as described and the atmosphere. I don’t have a problem spending $450 on a very special anniversary dinner,
next year it won’t be here.

In a region overflowing with extraordinary dining, from the hidden gems of the East Bay to the Michelin-bright stars of Napa and Los Angeles, standing out in California’s culinary landscape is no small feat. After all, this is San Francisco, where even the coffee shops sometimes have tasting menus and the sourdough has a fan base.
Yet Boulevard, nestled steps from the Ferry Building, manages to rise above the noise. And in San Francisco, rising above the noise is impressive, considering half the noise is construction for something that may or may not ever be finished.
From the moment you arrive, the bustle of the Embarcadero seems to fall away. The staff greets you with warmth and professionalism that instantly sets the tone. Inside, the space feels like its own world: calm, elegant, and intentionally designed to spotlight what matters most, the food. It is the rare SF restaurant where you can actually hear your dining companion without needing a city-issued permit for amplified sound.
And the food is spectacular.
Boulevard’s menu balances refinement with comfort, with standout dishes that linger in your memory long after the meal ends. Their famed pork chop is a masterclass in execution, beautifully cooked, deeply flavorful, and the kind of dish that reminds you why you pay San Francisco rent in the first place.
Appetizers are equally exceptional. The beef tartare is delicate and impeccably seasoned; the tableside lobster bisque adds a bit of theater without feeling over the top; and offerings like Aji tuna and pristine oysters highlight the kitchen’s respect for top tier ingredients. Seafood lovers will be delighted, too: the halibut is wonderfully balanced, and the sea bass consistently impresses.
And please, save room for dessert. Their crème brûlée cheesecake is a luxurious finale, especially when paired with a well brewed coffee that ties the entire evening together.
In a state celebrated for culinary innovation, Boulevard continues to shine with its artistry, consistency, and heartfelt hospitality. If you love food and you are in San Francisco, dinner at Boulevard is not just recommended, it is a destination you absolutely should not miss.

Amazing experience! Made reservation for our anniversary and they did not disappoint. Arrived few minutes early and we got seated right away. Our first time here and staff are helpful with recommendations. We loved the friendly welcoming staff and romantic ambience. Menu is pre fixe 3-course meal. Food tasted really good and plating was so pretty. Love the cocktails and desserts. Will definitely come back.

Been wanting to eat here for about 15 years. Service, atmosphere, and dinner with my girlfriends were spectacular. However, food fell well below my expectations. Appetizers - the pasta with truffle - nothing to write home about, and the flavor was quite bland- I equated it to fancy adult macaroni and cheese - I am so sorry, Nancy Oakes! Main - I got the seabass. It was overcooked and rubbery :( The beans (very undercooked) and red sauce were also not a good pair/flavor profile to complement the sea bass. I also tried the pork chop my friend ordered (it was dry/lacked flavor), and the lamb was ok. Dessert - the creme brulee cheesecake was ok (what I ordered). The upside down apple cake was too sweet and the cake portion reminded me of a Safeway cake. The pumpkin tres leches was dry - more akin to cake, not tres leches texture. The mint chocolate chip ice cream with the chocolate cake was outstanding, but you are not paying $150 to only love the mint chip ice cream... Overall, impressed by the beauty of the restaurant and the exceptional service, however, very disappointed in the food. Happy to pay for an expensive meal, but it should actually live up to the price point and standard.

we arrived 30 minutes early so opted to enjoy dinner at the bar. Great decision as still excellent service and fun to chat up bar-mates including a friend of the Executive Chef and 17 year customer of the incredible food. Starting with the bread & butter, lettuce/avocado salad, shrimp risotto. Then lamb and saltinbocca. Finished with cheesecake and affogato with salty caramel ice cream and a cannoli. Wow all incredibly tasty and perfect portioned for a 3 course meal.

I love Boulevard. I have been there many times and I’ve never had a bad experience. The food is delicious with generous portions. The service is excellent. And the decor is charming. The cocktails are also fantastic.

Another outstanding meal at Boulevard. It was my wife's birthday and it is hard to select a restaurant that is any better than this one. The service and the food was excellent for the three course prefix meal. The portions are what they should be, instead of the mountains of food served on huge plates that you find elsewhere these days. We strongly recommend Boulevard where Nancy Oakes is in the kitchen every day.
