Great food- great, fast, friendly service. And the French Fries stole the show.

We arrived to Brick and Beam yesterday, 9/15 to have dinner. We were seated right away by a petite Asian lady who gestured from afar if it was 3 of us. We were seated but there was no hello, no greetings of any kind. We ordered our wine. Another gentleman stopped to ask if we ordered drinks to which we replied yes, and he took off quickly. Wine was brought to us, with 3 glasses, the bottle was placed on the table and she left. She did not open it and let it us taste it, or served us. Good thing it was a twist off. No one offered us water. We placed our food order. Hummus, and two clam chowder bowls. Menus were taken from us without asking if we were going to have more food. The food arrived around 20 minutes later, which considering that these are pre made items, it was a long time. The hummus was not tasty at all. The chowder was decent and chunky but it didn't taste homemade.
On top of that, no one came to check on us after food was served. Servers will walk by but not make eye contact until I finally stood by the podium and the lady came to me. I told her that we wanted the check and that no one came to check on us or give us water. She told me that we did not ask for water. I thought that was part of the service, to ask if we want water. The bill was accurate, and the tip reflected the service we received. This is not the first time for us at Brick and Beam. We left very disappointed.
PS. The bottle of wine we ordered was a Sonoma Cutrer Russian River and we received a Sonoma Coast one. We were charged for the Russian River one.

Two servers working and had their 'separate' sections. Patrons were walking out for no service as one server wouldn't cross the section line. Dine elsewhere

This restaurant illegally charges customers!

We are tourists visiting the city, The prices were a bit high but seemed on par with the city.
When the bill came we discovered that a « service fee » was being applied, it represented approximately 15% of the bill without previous mention of it. We paid not really knowing what it was about.
After a quick research, I found out that this service fee should not be applied since July 1st.
So this restaurant illegally charges customers!

Btw food was very average, my wife couldn’t finish her salad which was way too salted.

Didn’t want to deal with all the crowds and tourists Found this restaurant near our hotel, we got in right away. Service was very attentive and food was delish.
We had drinks, calamari, bowl of clam chowder and shared the grilled chicken sandwich. I’ll be back!
