Got the eggs Benedict, nothing mindblowing and a bit on the pricier side. The potatoes were cut too big to have significant crunch and were very plain. The eggs themselves were just fine. The seating reminded me of Parisian cafes and very cute.

This review is for the Atmosphere, service, and coffee. We stopped by for coffee on a sunny Thursday afternoon. This place is just as charming as it was. When we spent our wedding night at the Hotel Triton next door 25 years ago, it felt like Paris!
Alas, the extensive collection of international newspapers that they used to have has been reduced to a few magazines, but the friendly service and European charm remain. We enjoyed outstanding service from our friendly server, Sergio.
I'm so glad that this gem of a place is still here, just south of the Chinatown Gate. A great place to stop by for a bit of old world charm in the heart of San Francisco, steps from Union Square.

It's a pleasant place with good food. Service was good except when one server pretended not to see me when I asked for the check.
Unnecessarily cramped seating. Wind from the entrance annoying, service was at level of an average restaurant. Food was delicious.
Staff is very friendly and food was exceptional.

This french restaurant has the most buttery, soft croissants. The eggs are fluffy which makes this sandwich delicious.

I have enjoyed de la Presse for years and have always been delighted by the food, service and atmosphere there. Great place to dine and refresh in the Union Square area.

It was a busy day for the cafe, but we were seated at a table away from others so that we could hear each other. The Xmas decorations were lovely . Best of all, our waiter was dear.
I have eaten at Café de la Presse for many years. Yesterday's food was disappointing. The salad niçoise was bland and the tuna was minimal. The tarte tatin was made with strange fruit, certainly not fresh apples. The Petatou was delicious, however, as was the croque monsieur. All in all, we were surprised that everything we ordered was not up to the usual high standards.
Too crowded. Too loud. Pricey for the quality of the food. Tables are tiny and not appropriate for food. Service was lousy. Good place for drinks and coffee.
I've been eating at Cafe de La Presse for over a decade. I was disappointed this time around. The food was adequate without being yummy. I had the Croque Monsieur which was over cooked and a bit rubbery. My husband had a burger which he described as also being overcooked and not juicy. If you can make the food better at home, why go out? It was also my birthday, which they failed to acknowledge in anyway (not even a Happy Birthday when we arrived). Not the place it used to be. Complacent.
Classic bistro menu in casual setting. Good drinks, good and thoughtfully prepared food, friendly service.
