Definitely closing for a reason. My husband wanted to go for a final meal… his food took an hour to arrive after we ordered and the chicken was SO dry. The waiter was very sweet but that is not ok. Would not recommend going for a final meal; the staff seems to have given up.

The food at Café Bastille/B44 is always delicious. Our servers, Sabina and Pedro are consummate professionals who know their jobs and are welcoming and friendly. We enjoy the our time on Belden Alley. Thank you for all the glorious memories.
The restaurant has merged with a Spanish one, which makes menu choices more interesting. I had the confit duck cassoulet and my husband had steak in peppercorn sauce with frites. The steak was cooked as ordered-rare and was very tender. Both meals were value for money and for dessert we had the Creme Catalina (crème brûlée with a citrus twist). Complimentary bread was served which was warm and crusty, accompanied by an olive oil and black olive dipping sauce. We received exceptional service from the lovely waiter; he was very attentive and humorous. Generous serving of wine by the glass.

I hadn't been to Bastille since before Covid. I was disappointed with the food. The bread was not that light crispy baguette that I remember and the Quiche was not as good as it was in the past. I will most likely not be returning to this restaurant☹️
Been coming to this place for many years. This is a little side street that is filled with restaurants where you can dine al fresco. Tucked in the
middle of downtown and has a nice vibe. 3 out of the 4 came here for lunch and ordered the Niçoise salad. Our 4th ordered another tuna dish with avocado, garnish and lentils.

Another exceptional dining experience at Bastille. The mussels were sweet and delicious. Our server was attentive and delightful. Everything was just perfect for me and my friends.

I love this place's ambiance and service. Unfortunately it's not very authentic French. Baguette came with olive oil and vinegar (not butter) - More Italian than French. Salad Niçoise was mostly lettuce, and tuna, the rest of the ingredients were minimal. Also not authentic.
Nestled in the bustling heart of San Francisco, Cafe Bastille stands out as a delightful French culinary retreat. The restaurant’s charm is immediately apparent, inviting diners into a space that promises both comfort and a touch of elegance.
Upon visiting, one is greeted by the flavorful array of dishes, each served in generous portions that satisfy even the heartiest of appetites. The menu, a blend of classic French fare with contemporary twists, ensures that every palate is catered to. Whether it’s the succulent beef bourguignon or the perfectly balanced salad, the food is consistently praised for its great taste.
The experience is further enhanced by the helpful and friendly wait staff. Their attentiveness and warmth contribute significantly to the dining experience, making guests feel both valued and well-cared for. It’s no surprise that service here is often described as outstanding.
Cafe Bastille is not just a restaurant; it’s a destination for those seeking a meal that will be remembered fondly long after the last bite. It’s a place where the food’s richness is matched only by the richness of the hospitality provided by its staff. For anyone looking for a taste of France in San Francisco, Cafe Bastille is a must-visit.

Hadn't been to Belden Alley in a long time. Like being on a European street! Very quiet for a Friday night. Service was very good. Friendly waiter. Cassoulet and beef bourguignon were both good. Liked the ambiance of French and Italian street signs.
Taste - it is confirmed that people in San Francisco do not have taste buds. Everything is sour, meat is cooked but no flavor inside. The French waitress attitude is pretty bad. Air conditioning very loud.

Wonderful spot, tucked into a little food marketplace. Close to Chinatown and a couple of terrific hotels. Authentic French cousine, C'est magnifique! Wait staff was attentive and super friendly.
Wheelchair accessibility: I'm disabled, the whole International food marketplace was level and wheelchair friendly, with enough authenticity to satisfy the soul.
