Alfajores

Chocolate Alfajor
Chocolate cookies joined with dulce de leche and covered in dark guittard chocolate. All of our chocolate is made in an oompa-loompa free facility. Two shortbread cookies joined with dulce de leche (thick caramel-like deliciousness). The word alfajor stems from the arabic al-hasú, which means filled or stuffed. Alfajores originated in moorish spain and then hopped the pond to south america where they flourished, to say the least.

I came here before heading to the Caltrain station. There isn’t as much food around this area as I was guessing but Cafe Buenos Aires was a real gem.

It’s a pretty small space, with seating for maybe 10-15 people total including chairs outside. The staff working seem to have a number of regulars, as while I was there (for about an hour), multiple people came in and chatted with them, which was nice to see!

They have a pretty expansive...

Tried the chicken empanada and was underwhelmed given the high reviews that this cafe has. It was nice that the empanadas were not greasy but the leading flavor was saltiness and I felt unsatisfied with the texture of the wrapping. Additionally, the price didn’t seem to align with the serving size. Aside from that, great service and cute interior!
