I’d been trying to find a place that sold Dubai chocolate bars in San Francisco and finally found it at Cafe Elena! Their Dubai chocolate bar is awesome! Dark chocolate, pistachio filling, not too sweet. Family-owned business, wife makes the chocolate bars, super friendly owner.

What I ordered vs what I got

Vaishnavi iyer

Ordered falafel plate to go. Falafel had way too much baking powder, the hummus was weirdly sour and bitter, salad and turmeric rice was fine.

The chicken kebab plate was disappointing. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor. The rice and hummus was ok. The salad was lackluster. I expected better quality for the price ($18 with tip.)

It’s owned and served by very nice people, attentive and kind by heart . I really wished to like the food, however, it is bland, very little flavor. I had Lunch special or something like that
Watermelon juice was outstanding ?

My recent experience with the chicken Shawarma at Cafe Elena was nothing short of extraordinary. Each bite of the Shawarma was a revelation, with the chicken succulent and juicy, perfectly complemented by crisp and refreshing vegetables. The flavors melded beautifully, transitioning seamlessly from the sensation of sipping the delicious sauce to savoring each bite of the grilled chicken. The special spicy sauce, a homemade recipe, added a delightful kick without overwhelming the dish, creating a harmonious explosion of flavors. It was a near-religious experience that left me eagerly anticipating my next visit. If you're downtown and in the mood for Shawarma, look no further than Café Elena. Trust me, it's the only place you need to go for a truly satisfying Shawarma experience.
