What a HOOT ! Cioppino was very interesting, fun to eat, mucho seafood, a lot--enough for two persons. This time it was not not served in metal bowl.

Decided to try it again several months ago. I still love their squid ink risotto with scallop appetizer. We tried their short rib ravioli and didn't love it. The sauce had a strange flavor...almost like a barbecue sauce. We couldn't quite pinpoint the flavor - it was unexpected for an Italian dish. The menu changes periodically - I've ordered the sole and sand dabs and both were pretty tasty. I might go back at some point.

Had a celebratory dinner here last Sunday and couldn't be more happy with the experience and food. We were a party of 9 and they handled us with grace and skill. The food was delicious as always and the service impeccable. The peppered ahi hi tuna, the mussels, the tiramisu to die for!

This place has been in existence for many years and unfortunately we just discovered it. A real find for those of us who appreciate a non trendy restaurant, but one who prides on tasty food, pleasant atmosphere and some of the best service around. It truly is a 'locals' place and although this was only our second time there, I foresee us going back many times over.

Tasty classic Italian dishes, with some original twists. I was a little disappointed that the bread was so cold, but otherwise everything we ordered was terrific. The burrata with broccoli rabe and beef short rib ravioli with red wine reduction were especially good.

Capannina is an absolute gem. I genuinely recommend bringing loved ones here. I brought my 3 year old niece and she the penne with butter and parmesan -- we have literally have never seen her eat so much in her entire life. The waiter (owner?) is so kind and treated her like the princess she is. I am so grateful for that. I can see this place working for all occasions. It's fantastic for bringing family, celebrations, casual dinners, date night... it just fits the bill. The food is delicious. I had the pappardelle ragu and the salmon - So Tasty! All the desserts are great too!

Capannina is such a gem! Cow Hollow is so lucky to have such an incredible restaurant. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is super cozy, and the service is impeccable. The owner, Michele, and the entire staff treat customers like family, making everyone feel welcome. This is my favorite restaurant in San Francisco and cannot recommend it more.

Loved the quaint atmosphere, service was excellent, and food was tasty. Some items seem a bit overpriced, but others are what they should be( all in all, I would like to return soon because we all truly enjoyed our food and service.

Awesome gem in the Cow Hollow. There aren’t too many Italian spots but if you want to know, just look at the photos. It was better than it looks.

Had 4 items, all superb. The memories from our last trip to SF have consolidated to very few, this restaurant being one of them. Make a reservation early and enjoy the experience of a unique, Italian American, family run, small, scratch restaurant serving properly fresh and fundamentally prepared food. Don't let the awkward bathroom or curt staff throw you off, it is a great time.

We ate there with some friends in mid-december after their research revealed this great Italian-style (Capri) restaurant which neither of us had heard of or tried. The place was quite busy on a saturday night. In a nutshell, the prices were very high, the portions were tiny and the quality was OK, not great. We have had Italian-style cuisine for 50 years and just returned from a trip to Italy and Sicily. We very easily spent $100 per couple and for the first time I can remember, went home hungry. I actually made a snack when we got home. In addition to the poor culinary experience, our Visa was overcharged. The owner admitted the error, but blamed the server. Now, a month later the promised credit is still less than the overcharge. We will not be going back.

Relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Service is good without being invasive. Food is wonderful with a little twist on common dishes. If you're going to go to an event, let them know when you order. They allow you to eat leisurely so we unexpectedly ran out of time.
