Castro Indian Restaurant and Bar exceeded all expectations! The cocktails were expertly crafted by a talented bartender, each one bursting with unique flavors. Our server was fantastic—attentive, warm, and knowledgeable, adding a personal touch to the evening. The ambiance was both cozy and chic, making it the perfect spot for a night out. Honestly, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Familiar Indian flavors with ample other options to try out. You can tell it’s the freshest of ingredients. Lamb curry dish - so tender and with a healthy kick of heat. The owners name literary translated means “happy” which is evident she pours that into her dishes. Don’t forget to try the blonde ale that is microbrewed right on site. Ice cold and full of depth. I will make this a staple stop whenever visiting SF from now on!

I recently visited Castro Indian American restaurant and was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience! Starting with drinks, I tried the Castro Mule, Avani Modi, and ABCD cocktails. While all were equally good, my favorite by far was the Avani Modi—an absolute must-try! The bartender did a fantastic job balancing the flavors in each.
For appetizers, I went with their bestseller podi idli, which was simply perfect—light, flavorful, and beautifully plated. I also tried the chicken tandoori, and it was cooked just right, with great spices that didn’t overpower the taste.
Moving on to the main course, I had what I can confidently call the best butter chicken I’ve ever had. It was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. I also tried the shrimp gravy, which was a little different from the usual, but delicious in its own way, especially when paired with their onion and garlic butter naan. The naan was fresh and fragrant, the perfect accompaniment to the curries.
To finish off the meal, I had the sweet rasmalai dessert, which was the perfect way to round out the evening.
Beyond the food and drinks, the restaurant’s interior is beautiful, and the plating of each dish was artfully done. If you’re looking for a blend of Indian and American flavors with a unique twist, Castro is definitely worth a visit! I’ll be returning soon to explore more of their menu.

We had an incredible dining experience at Castro Indian Restaurant and Bar in San Francisco! From the moment we
walked in, the beautiful interiors and warm ambiance set the perfect tone for the evening. Khusi, our host, was exceptional and made sure we had a wonderful time throughout. The menu was a delightful fusion of classic and modern Indian dishes, and we couldn't get enough!
We started with the delicious veg momos and the smoky eggplant dip, both bursting with fresh flavors. The pesto paneer tikka kebabs were a unique fusion twist that we absolutely loved. The malai kofta was creamy and decadent, while the butter chicken stole the show with its rich and flavorful sauce.
What really impressed us was that despite the upscale feel and high-quality dishes, the prices were nominal compared to other Iindian restaurants in San Francisco. This place is a gem for anyone looking to enjoy amazing food, great service, and a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend Castro Indian Restaurant and Bar for your next dining experience!

Outstanding service by server, Khushi. Very friendly. What I love the most about restaurant: It doesn't smell like Indian food when you walk in. And being Indian, I don't want my clothes to smell like Indian spices when I walk out. Food was very clean and well prepared and cooked. Had the Salmon Tandoori with Naan. Would come again and again. Good vibe.
