Their food is incredible and staff are generally nice, but I forgot about their “no laptop policy” and was stopping by for breakfast thinking I could finish a little work there using my hot spot. What an idiotic policy in a city of remote workers, on a main commuting road. Food is always 10/10, but more than half of the time I’m out, I have work since in order to afford SF I have multiple jobs. It’s very strange to sell a commuter friendly food, yet host such an inhospitable cafe. It explains why it’s empty most of the time.

Delicious Argentinean-style empanadas and churros. Baked empanadas are a bit of a rarity in the Bay Area, so I'm glad to have found Chalos. Recommend the beef and chicken empanadas as well as the churros with dulce de leche dip. Fantastic!

I love this place. Their churros are so good and the right amount of sweet. The dulce de Leche is good too but I prefer them plain. Their fried empanadas are delicious too, we love the spicy beef and spicy chicken the most, but are happy to eat any of them!

Great breakfast burritos with crispy bits of tater tots. You can add your choice of bacon or sausage for an additional fee. They provide a pager for when your order is ready. Be aware, it's a "no laptop" place. Parking is a bit constrained with the Taraval street car track renovation underway (Feb '24).

The service here was great! You can order directly at the counter with someone or you can order at the kiosk they have nearby. The cafe is very clean and open and the staff is incredibly friendly. We tried empanadas, their breakfast burrito and some churros. The empanadas were freshly made. We had one baked, which was nice and flaky, and one fried, which was deliciously crispy. The burrito was hearty and kept well (had half in the restaurant and half the next day for leftovers) and was well filled. The churros were amazing. Delightfully crispy and chewy in the middle without feeling overly oily or fried. This is a place I would recommend to anyone in the area, or if you're looking for a nice quiet breakfast/brunch place, go here. Parking in the area is not great, but if it's within walking/biking distance for you, it's a must experience.

We love a good empanada, so we've been wanting try Chalos for a while. After a hike at Lands End, we finally made our way over here. We decided to get three to share as a snack and went with Baked Spicy Beef, Fried Beef, and Fried Spicy Chicken. We both thought these tasted fresh and that the filling was good. Our favorite was definitely the Baked Spicy Beef! Surprisingly, we actually liked the baked dough more than fried but both were good. The space itself is very spacious and clean.

Very cute all day cafe with empanadas and some of my favorite things: Sightglass coffee and Barebottle beer on tap. Clear that this place really cares about authenticity and quality ingredients.

I’m Argentine American and always on the lookout for great emanadas in the Bay Area. After trying pretty much every empanada spot around, I can confidently state that Chalo’s is the best in town. Here’s why: you can choose between fried or baked (this is a key element that every other spot misses the mark on, usually only offering baked). The ingredients are always top notch and flavorful, a great selection of meats and veggies, and they serve sandwiches, churros, and a great coffee. They have a roomy, comfortable atmosphere, bright and relaxed. Every time I drive across town to snack on some and pick up some semi baked ones to take home, the husband and wife owners are always there at the counter. As a small business owner myself, that right there speaks to their hands on approach to their customers.Great place, well worth the drive out to the beach.

Great ambiance, super friendly owners/ workers. The food is great and fairly priced. Comes out hot and fast. Perfect pit stop after a day of biking or surfing, or if you’re just passing through.
