Three stars for the experience, one extra star for the courage of château Montelena opening a tasting room in the city. Wish more vineyards would come together and open a larger facility to do the same. The pricing is a bit steep but then you are avoiding that long drive to Calistoga.

amazing tasting did the flagship tasting, the 19 and 13 cabs are fabulous (you don’t often get to try this kind of library tasting in other tasting rooms, let alone such a big name!!) I also learned a lot from Russel.

The best wine tasting ever forgot the name of the guy there, but we had the best wine private tasting ever, if we had more time here in San Francisco we would definitely go there again, the wines is exceptional so sad it is too expensive to send the wines to Australia

Incredible experience. I popped in having been interested in trying the Montelena wines for awhile but in my travel to SF it was never plausible for me to rent a car and make it out to the estate. Ward (sp?) was my tasting attendant and he was extremely knowledgeable, professional, but also very approachable and relatable. Easily the best tasting experience I’ve had in a long time. I’d recommend stopping in especially if he is working - truly exemplary.

Such an amazing find. I didn’t expect to see the name Chateau Montelena right here in downtown SF but was pleasantly surprised to find their tasting room off the lobby of the Westin. Ward took amazing care of me and the other couple that arrived at the same time. Had some amazing wines, guided along the way by his vast knowledge of the vineyard and the wines themselves. A really awesome and intimate tasting experience right in the middle of a city? Yes please! Sent a bunch of amazing bottles back home to NY before I left, too!
